  • Publication number: 20050021477
Abstract: A method and system for facilitating digital commerce using a secure digital commerce system is provided. The secure digital commerce system is arranged according to a client/server architecture and includes a modularized DCS client and DCS server. The DCS client and the DCS server are incorporated into an online purchasing system, such as a virtual store, to perform the purchase and online delivery of electronic content. The DCS client includes a set of components which include a secured copy of the merchandise and various components needed to license and purchase the merchandise and to unsecure and process (e.g., execute) the licensed merchandise. The DCS client communicates with the DCS server to download the components onto a customer's computer system and to license and purchase a requested item of merchandise.

  • Publication number: 20050010592
Abstract: A method and system for creating a snapshot of data. The snapshot system creates a snapshot of data that is hierarchically organized, such as the data of a file system. When a snapshot is to be created, the snapshot system copies the root node of the hierarchical organization to a new root node that points to the same child nodes as the copied root node. This new root node becomes the root node of the snapshot data. When a current node is subsequently modified, the snapshot system replaces each ancestor node of that node that has not yet been replaced with a new node that has the same child nodes as the replaced node. The snapshot system also replaces the node to be modified with a new node that points to the same child nodes of the replaced node.

  • Publication number: 20020129064
Abstract: A method and system for injecting code into an existing HTML document that enables the conditional generation and incorporation of an injectable component is provided. The injection mechanism provided enables a user to display an add-on user interface component within a web page using a technique that is transparent to the normal processing within a browser application. The injection mechanism installs interceptor code as a proxy server between a client browser and a server. The interceptor code monitors all HTTP messages sent from the client browser and injects code into each HTML document that is sent from a server to the client browser. The injected code when executed by the client browser conditionally inserts HTML code into the received HTML document. The inserted HTML code is then used by the client browser to generate a new component, for example a user interface component.

  • Patent number: 6401077
Abstract: A method and system for enabling a page description provided by a source server to perform additional behavior provided by a portal server. The page description (e.g., an HTML document) is associated with one or more items (e.g., a product). The enabling system executes at the portal server and receives a selection of the page description (e.g., a URL) from a client computer. The enabling system then retrieves from the source server the selected page description. The enabling system adds to the retrieved page description a user interface element that describes an action to be performed so that the additional behavior (e.g., placing an order for the product) can be performed for the associated item. The enabling system may also redirect to the portal server the navigation references of the retrieved page description so that all navigation based on the page description is routed through the portal server.

  • Patent number: 6011243
Abstract: A cabinet and control system for maintaining a food product within a predetermined temperature range for a holding period of time not exceeding a predetermined maximum time. The cabinet comprises a housing having a front panel and a passageway opening at the front panel. The passageway is capable of receiving at least two containers of the food product. A temperature element positioned in said passageway maintains the passageway within the predetermined temperature range. A processing circuit tracks the amount of time each container of food product remains within the passageway. The processing circuit provides a signal output indicating which container has been within said passageway the longest and an alarm signal when either container remains within said passageway beyond said maximum time. A display positioned on said housing proximate to said passageway receives the said signal output and indicates which container has been within the passageway the longest.
