Patent number: 6422438Abstract: A ship-on garment hanger having shielding means at each end of the hanger body to prevent dislodgement of a garment from the hanger by downwardly and inwardly directed dislodging forces, the hanger and the front and rear jaws of the clamp assemblies at the ends of the hanger body being formed integrally in one piece so that the hanger is ideally suited for production by the chain molding technique and consists of only three separate parts including two spring clips.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1999Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventor: John H. Batts

Patent number: 5584421Abstract: A garment hanger which can be manufactured from inexpensive materials on a mass production basis which is extendable and contractible as many times as desired by the user throughout its useful life by a camming system formed by the interaction of cam drivers on each of two arms which engage with a cam follower carried in a central housing, the components being quickly and easily assembled but, when assembled, virtually impossible to disassemble.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1995Date of Patent: December 17, 1996Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Russell O. Blanchard, John H. Batts
-
Patent number: 5361948Abstract: A garment hanger includes an elongated, generally planar body having opposite ends and front and rear surfaces. A clamp is joined adjacent each end of the body with the body defining a wing which extends beyond the clamp. Each clamp includes first and second clamp members hingedly joined to the body adjacent an upper edge thereof. Each clamp member defines a clamping surface which is moveable in an opposed, generally abutting relationship with the clamp members overlying the front and rear surfaces of the body. A support hook is joined to the body intermediate the ends thereof. The garment hanger body is insertable inside the waistband of a pair of slacks, a skirt or the like. The clamp members are moved to a closed position engaging front and back surfaces of the garment. In use, only the front and back clamp members and the support hook are visible, and the hanger does not detract from the visual presentation of the garment.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1993Date of Patent: November 8, 1994Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventor: John H. Batts
-
Patent number: 4793531Abstract: A hanger for garments of the type having a waistband has a rigid body resistant to compression loads applied lengthwise thereof. The ends of the hanger are so designed that the waistband of a garment can be wrapped around them and then resiliently pulled with sufficient force that the garment seats firmly against the end faces of the hanger body. The hanger has one or more hooks to engage the waistband and a resilient stretchable member to apply tension to the waistband by means of the hook. The end faces of the hanger are so designed that the garment, once tensioned along its waistband, will have no tendency to slide either upwardly or downwardly with respect to the hanger body.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Russell O. Blanchard, John H. Batts
-
Patent number: 4759480Abstract: A plastic hanger for articles including garments has article gripping clamps and is provided with an auxiliary bar over with portions of the articles or garments can be draped. The auxiliary bar depends below the hanger and is wider than the spacing between the outer ends of the clamps. The bar can be a separate component pivotally supported by the hanger body or it can be molded as an integral part of the hanger.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1987Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Everett L. Duester, John H. Batts
-
Patent number: 4746039Abstract: An article hanger, particularly useful for clothes such as skirts and slacks has an elongated body. Except in the general area of the hook by which the hanger is suspended, the body consists of a pair of elongate arms. A pair of article clamps are supported on the body. For this purpose the arms pass through the clamps and an anchor device on the clamps embraces and grips the said arms preclude pivoting of the clamps and with enough force to prevent sliding movement of the clamps under normal conditions when supporting a garment but permitting an operator to intentionally reposition the clamps lengthwise of the body.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1986Date of Patent: May 24, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: John H. Batts, Howard DeMaagd, Judd Garrison
-
Patent number: 4744496Abstract: A hanger for garments with a waistband having at least a limited degree of stretchability has a compression resistant body with dependent end members having garment gripping end faces. Between the end members, the hanger body has a plurality of dependent fingers arranged in two groups, one on each side of the center of the hanger body. The fingers are arranged at spacings to accommodate a variety of garment sizes, the waistbands of which are wrapped around both ends of the hanger and anchored to a selected pair of the fingers. In a modified construction, the fingers are hinged so they can be pivoted out of the plane of the hanger body to facilitate mounting and removal of the garments.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1987Date of Patent: May 17, 1988Assignee: Batts, Inc.Inventors: Russell O. Blanchard, John H. Batts
-
Patent number: 4565309Abstract: A garment hanger has upper and lower bars joined at one end by a hinge of a construction which biases the lower jaw into an open position but resists a significant further opening movement even under the weight of a garment draped over it. The two bars are vertically superimposed with the lower bar being longer than the upper bar. A garment clamp is supported on the end of the upper bar distal from the hinge. The clamp has a pair of jaws forming a pocket between them centered over the lower bar. The jaws, when closed, embrace the lower bar and any garment draped over it for holding the garment against displacement from or along the lower bar.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1984Date of Patent: January 21, 1986Assignee: John Thomas Batts, Inc.Inventors: John H. Batts, Judd F. Garrison

Patent number: 4556158Abstract: A one-piece molded plastic garment hanger has upper and lower bars connected at one end by a hinge. The hanger has a support hook generally centered between the ends of the hanger and integral with the lower bar. The hinge is designed with inner and outer spaced spring members separated by a gap with the inner spring member serving as the pivot and the outer one having a rigid web in its apex serving as a stiffener. The entire hinge in open position being inclined downwardly at an acute angle to the axis of the lower bar. When the hanger is closed and the bars generally parallel, the hinge is pivoted upwardly into substantial alignment with the lower bar axis.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1985Date of Patent: December 3, 1985Assignee: John Thomas Batts, Inc.Inventors: Russell O. Blanchard, John H. Batts

Patent number: 4395799Abstract: The disclosed garment hanger has an elongated, molded plastic body with clamps at each end. Each clamp has a pair of spaced legs interconnected by an integral web between its ends which holds the legs substantially spaced from each other. The web has a relatively thin central section which functions as a hinge. The legs are biased into clamping position by a spring which is suspended in a pocket between the handle portions of the clamps. The lower end of the spring has a substantially circular head which becomes distorted in shape and presses against the bottom of the handle portions of the legs and against the web as the clamp is opening for effecting a change in the operating characteristic of the clamp.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1981Date of Patent: August 2, 1983Assignee: John Thomas Batts, Inc.Inventor: John H.
