Patent number: 12491726Abstract: A technique is described for the application of three-dimensional (3D) relief to a substrate such as a ceramic tile using digital inkjet technology. A computer system receives information defining a relief pattern for forming the 3D relief using a digital inkjet printer. From the information, a feature vector is extracted comprising one or more features describing the 3D relief. A machine learning model is used to generate control commands based on the feature vector. The machine learning model is trained to generate the control commands to configure the digital inkjet printer to apply binder ink to a first region of a surface of the substrate. The applied binder ink is configured to form a protective layer over the first region of the surface of the substrate. The digital inkjet printer is configured to apply solvent ink to the surface of the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2023Date of Patent: December 9, 2025Assignee: ELECTRONICS FOR IMAGING, INC.Inventors: Mark Zavada, Matthew Tennis, David Weber, Alexander Meranto, Carlos Carratalá, Fernando Tomás Badenes, Louis Justus Fage, Ursula Good, Paul Andrew Edwards, Robert Roggers, John Hansen

Patent number: 11633972Abstract: A technique is described for the application of three-dimensional (3D) relief to a substrate such as a ceramic tile using digital inkjet technology. In an example embodiment, the introduced technique includes application of binder ink to a portion of the surface of a substrate using a digital inkjet process. This binder ink forms a barrier layer which protects the portion of the surface of the substrate. Next, a brushing process is applied to remove unprotected portions of the substrate, thereby forming the 3D relief in the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2020Date of Patent: April 25, 2023Assignee: ELECTRONICS FOR IMAGING, INC.Inventors: Mark Zavada, Matthew Tennis, David Weber, Alexander Meranto, Carlos Carratalá, Fernando Tomás Badenes, Louis Justus Fage, Ursula Good, Paul Andrew Edwards, Robert Roggers, John Hansen

Patent number: 11345521Abstract: A hinged closure is disclosed for a container. The hinged closure comprises a first closure and a second closure. An internal closure hinge pivotably couples the first closure with the second closure. An exterior closure hinge pivotably couples the second closure with the container. A first locking member is couple to the interior edge of the first closure. A second locking member is coupled to the second closure. The first locking member engages with the second locking member for preventing pivoting of the first closure relative to the second closure and covering the container chamber and prevents access into the container chamber of the container. The first locking member disengaging with the second locking member for permitting pivoting of the first closure relative to the second closure and permitting access into the container chamber of the container and defines a reduced closure height relative to the container.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2017Date of Patent: May 31, 2022Assignee: NAME HAS NOTHIN TO DO WITH IT, LLCInventors: Peter M. Patent number: 9621606Abstract: A request to retrieve data from a client device is intercepted by a video detector. The video detector determines if the request is for retrieving a video file. If the request is for a video file, and the video file is deemed to be transcoded to be displayed on the client device, the video detector forwards the request to a video optimizer along with encoding parameters. Encoding parameters are selected by the video detector based on properties of the client device, networks accessible by the client device, conditions of those networks, properties of the requested video and the type of video requested. The encoding parameters also include a file format type to which the requested video is to be transcoded.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2013Date of Patent: April 11, 2017Assignee: Opera Software Ireland LimitedInventors: Erik R. Swenson, Nitin Bhandari, Jaime Heilpern, Robert Oberhofer, John Hansen

Patent number: 8680852Abstract: A method of detecting defects using eddy currents is disclosed. The method comprises: exciting eddy currents in a test material using an eddy current probe driven by a drive signal; detecting induced eddy currents in the test material; converting the detected signal into integer values using an analog to digital converter; and adding or subtracting the generated integer values to or from each of two accumulators, or taking no action, so that one accumulator produces a value proportional to one component of the detected signal and the other produces a value proportional to another component of the detected signal and using these values to detect the presence of a defect.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2009Date of Patent: March 25, 2014Assignee: GE Inspection Technologies Ltd.Inventors: Alan Daly, Xiaoyu Qiao, Ian Christopher Mayes, John Hansen
