  • Publication number: 20200063669
Abstract: A control system and method relating to operation of an internal combustion engine, particularly an engine for powering an unmanned aerial vehicle. The engine has a combustion chamber and a throttle for regulating fluid flow to the combustion chamber, the throttle being operable under the control of an electronic control unit. With the control system and method there are first and second modes optionally available for operation of the engine. In the first mode the engine is operable at a throttle setting set by a request from a first remote controller (e.g. a ground-based controller) via a second on-board controller. In the second mode the engine is operable at a prescribed minimum throttle setting asserted by the electronic control unit which limits the authority of the on-board controller. The engine is caused to operate in the second mode if a particular throttle setting determined from a request of the remote controller is less than the prescribed minimum throttle setting.

  • Patent number: 10559037
Abstract: A system and method may automatically create auto insurance policy quotes using data obtained by processing an image of a vehicle information sticker. An image of a vehicle information sticker may be received and analyzed using optical character recognition or some other method. The data acquired from the image can be used to identify a particular vehicle, and retrieve data corresponding to the particular vehicle. The customer data, vehicle data, and other data can be used to calculate an insurance policy quote. The created quotes can then be presented to a user for purchase.

  • Patent number: 10538847
Abstract: A system to remove sodium and Sulfur from a feed stream containing alkali metal sulfides and polysulfides in addition to heavy metals. The system includes an electrolytic cell having an anolyte compartment housing an anode in contact with an anolyte. The anolyte includes alkali metal sulfides and polysulfides dissolved in a polar organic solvent. The anolyte includes heavy metal ions. A separator includes an ion conducting membrane and separates the anolyte compartment from a catholyte compartment that includes a cathode in contact with a catholyte. The catholyte includes an alkali ion-conductive liquid. A power source applies a voltage to the electrolytic cell high enough to reduce the alkali metal and oxidize Sulfur ions to allow recovery of the alkali metal and elemental sulfur. The ratio of sodium to Sulfur is such that the open circuit potential of the electrolytic cell is greater than about 2.3V.

  • Patent number: 10514034
Abstract: A gear pump for low speed transfers of viscous liquid slurries promotes growth of suspended particles, such as sugar crystals, by avoiding crushing of the particles. The pump includes a rotor gear in mesh with an eccentrically mounted idler gear supported on a boss of a pump head that includes a crescent seal extending into an opening resulting from the eccentricity of the idler gear relative to the rotor gear. The idler gear contains a radially extending land on each tooth profile, symmetrically oriented on adjacently spaced pairs of teeth. The lands, configured to minimize crushing of crystals passing through the pump, engage mating rotor teeth for sealing between inlet and outlet ports of the pump. To promote crystal growth, the lands cover only 10% to 30% of profile surface area of each tooth. To minimize gear tooth wear, the lands are axially staggered between successive adjacent pairs of teeth.

  • Patent number: 10459766
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a novel system for a multidimensional (or “N-dimensional”) services framework. The framework may be used to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of various services along multiple dimensions which may be specified by the system or be added to the framework in the future. By evaluating the various possibilities and opportunities to modify the services as the services reach varying levels of maturity, the services may be compared with one another to establish the relational impacts among the services tracked by the system. Through the use of the N-dimensional framework, an entity may be better able to prioritize resources allocated toward the enhancement of certain evaluated services.
