  • Publication number: 20180318538
Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide a guidable intubation stylet comprises a handle having a handle body. The handle body defines a cavity. An opening is disposed at a proximal end of the handle body, and a chamber is disposed at a distal end of the handle body. A joystick has a steering grip extending proximally from a joystick body. The joystick body is disposed in the cavity with the steering grip extending through the opening. A stylet shaft is connected to the handle body at the distal end, and a controllable tip is disposed distal to the stylet shaft. One or more wires are connected to the joystick body and extend distally through the chamber. A rotation of the joystick body using the steering grip causes a displacement of the one or more wires, and the displacement of the one or more wires moves the controllable tip.

  • Patent number: 10119305
Abstract: A remotely activatable custody control belt is worn by prisoners, inmates, and detainees. The remotely activatable custody control belt deters whomever is wearing the remotely activatable custody control belt from aggressive or hostile actions against law enforcement officers, corrections officers, other prisoners, or bystanders. The remotely activatable custody control belt includes a belt, a belt fastener, a fastener receiver, at least one warning-signal device, a non-lethal electroshock device, a wireless transceiver, and a first microcontroller. The belt is fastened around the prisoner through the belt fastener and the fastener receiver. The at least one warning-signal device alerts the wearer to comply with verbal commands or of an imminent emission from the non-lethal electroshock device. The corrections officer alerts the wearer through a signal from a remote-control device. The signal is received through the wireless transceiver and processed through the first microcontroller.

  • Publication number: 20180297267
Abstract: A system for manufacturing a cylindrical, nanoimprint lithography master includes, in one embodiment, a flat master coated with a first layer of compliant photopolymer material, a cylindrical master with an outer sleeve formed from a second layer of compliant photopolymer material, and a light source. The cylindrical master is disposed in tangential contact against the flat master such that the first and second layers of compliant material exhibit 5%-20% compressive strain within the region of contact. Through such pressure, the feature pattern in the flat master is imprinted into the first layer of material. Light from the light source is acutely focused into a narrow curing zone within the contact region. Curing causes the first layer of photopolymer material to bond to the outer sleeve. Through geometric matching and synchronized movement between the flat and cylindrical masters, the cylindrical master can be patterned about its periphery without creating a seam.

  • Patent number: 10087538
Abstract: Alkali metals and sulfur may be recovered from alkali monosulfide and polysulfides in an electrolytic process that utilizes an electrolytic cell having an alkali ion conductive membrane. An anolyte includes an alkali monosulfide, an alkali polysulfide, or a mixture thereof and a solvent that dissolves elemental sulfur. A catholyte includes molten alkali metal. Applying an electric current oxidizes sulfide and polysulfide in the anolyte compartment, causes alkali metal ions to pass through the alkali ion conductive membrane to the catholyte compartment, and reduces the alkali metal ions in the catholyte compartment. Liquid sulfur separates from the anolyte and may be recovered. The electrolytic cell is operated at a temperature where the formed alkali metal and sulfur are molten.

  • Publication number: 20180223661
Abstract: A cutting bit assembly for a mining machine includes a holder having a first surface, a second surface, and a bore extending therebetween, and a bit having a first end and a second end. The bit further includes a tip, a shank, and a shoulder positioned between the tip and the shank. The shank is positioned in the bore of the holder and defines a shank axis. The shoulder engages the first surface of the holder. The shank includes a projection adjacent the second end. The cutting bit assembly also includes a retainer having a groove and a resilient member. The groove engages a portion of the projection. • Patent number: 10044061
Abstract: A process for preparing a lithium-rich antiperovskite electrolyte film involves forming a composite target of precursor metal oxide(s) and metal halide(s), and exposing the target to a pulsed laser beam under conditions suitable for depositing a film of lithium-rich antiperovskite on a surface. In some embodiments the process is used to prepare a film of Li3OCl from a target largely composed of Li2O and LiCl. Exposure of the target to a pulsed laser beam deposits antiperovskite electrolyte Li3OCl on a substrate. In another embodiment, sputtering may be used to prepare films of lithium-rich antiperovskites using the composite target of precursor metal oxide(s) and metal halide(s).

  • Publication number: 20180187317
Abstract: A system to remove sodium and Sulfur from a feed stream containing alkali metal sulfides and polysulfides in addition to heavy metals. The system includes an electrolytic cell having an anolyte compartment housing an anode in contact with an anolyte. The anolyte includes alkali metal sulfides and polysulfides dissolved in a polar organic solvent. The anolyte includes heavy metal ions. A separator includes an ion conducting membrane and separates the anolyte compartment from a catholyte compartment that includes a cathode in contact with a catholyte. The catholyte includes an alkali ion-conductive liquid. A power source applies a voltage to the electrolytic cell high enough to reduce the alkali metal and oxidize Sulfur ions to allow recovery of the alkali metal and elemental sulfur. The ratio of sodium to Sulfur is such that the open circuit potential of the electrolytic cell is greater than about 2.3V.
