  • Publication number: 20040004187
Abstract: An infra red spectrometer incorporates a flow cell connected to a process line containing sugar to provide continuous sugars measurements. The optical components and lamp are selected to operate in the range of 1800 nm to 2500 nm. The absorption at two wavelengths are used to calculate sucrose concentration. Absorbance at one of the wavelengths is independent of sugars concentration so that the difference between the two is indicative of sugar concentration. The method is applicable to both beet and cane sugars as well as any food processing system which requires monitoring of sugar concentrations.

  • Publication number: 20030169134
Abstract: A low cost and high performance millimeter wave (MMW) radio frequency transceiver module includes a substrate board and plurality of microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) chips supported by the substrate board and arranged in a receiver section, a local oscillator section and a transmitter section. A plurality of filters and radio frequency circuit interconnects are formed on the substrate board and operative with and/or connecting the receiver, local oscillator and transmitter sections. A plurality of electrical interconnects are operative with and connect the receiver, local oscillator and transmitter sections. A method of forming the millimeter wave radio frequency transceiver module is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6498551
Abstract: A low cost millimeter wave (MMW) module for a microwave monolithic integrated circuit (MMIC) includes a carrier board formed of a dielectric material and having at least one MMIC die mounted thereon and at least one interface line, such as a 50 Ohm microstrip interface line. A base plate is formed of a material that has a higher unmatched coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) than the carrier board and supports same. A housing is mounted over the carrier board and engages the base plate. The housing has at least one subminiature coaxial connector (SMA) interface mounted thereon. A flexible circuit interconnect, such as a fuzz button, connects the subminiature coaxial connector and MMIC die through the interface line. A thermal interface member is positioned between the carrier board and base plate to aid in heat transfer between the base plate and housing and the lower CTE carrier board.

  • Publication number: 20020123871
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for implementing multiple configurations of multiple input/output (IO) subsystems in a single simulation model. At least one bus routing switch is included in the single simulation model. Each bus routing switch includes a plurality of ports respectively connected to a plurality of IO busses. Predefined ones of the plurality of IO busses are connected to respective multiple input/output (IO) subsystems in the single simulation model. The bus routing switch is selectively configurable for interconnecting predetermined ones of the plurality of ports. The bus routing switch includes a variable delay latch structure to simulate the effect of long wires. Each bus routing switch includes a plurality of multiplexers. Each of the plurality of multiplexers includes inputs connected to the plurality of ports, an output connected to a respective one of the plurality of ports and has a control input for configuring the bus routing switch.

  • Patent number: 5691382
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the method of inhibiting the release of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in a condition mediated by TNF by administration of certain hydroxamic add derivatives, also known as matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors, and thus the method of this invention is useful in the management of diseases or conditions mediated by TNF.

  • Patent number: 4764759
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for self-monitoring a communication circuit incorporating a differential driver for malfunctions with a malfunction detector located remote from the driver. The malfunction detector monitors the state of signals received at the remote location on a pair of lines coupled to the driver. Preferably, the detector includes a pair of back-to-back light emitting diodes, one of which will emit light so long as the received signals are in opposite states, and neither of which will emit light when the received signals are not in opposite states as will occur during a malfunction. The detector further preferably includes a phototransistor responsive to the diodes to provide a malfunction signal when neither diode emits light. Alternatively, the detector may comprise an exclusive-OR logic gate.

  • Patent number: 3984767
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assessing the flatness of a metal anode (e.g. a foraminous titanium anode) which comprises measuring the capacitance of the electrical capacitor formed by urging towards each other under a predetermined load the working surface of said anode and a rigid plane sheet of an electrically conducting material (e.g. copper) as the other plate of the capacitor with a sheet of dielectric material (e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene) therebetween. The apparatus is preferably provided with a compensating weight device to offset the additional weight of the anode current lead-in rod.
