  • Publication number: 20060217317
Abstract: The invention provides novel peptide prodrugs that contain cleavage sites specifically cleaved by human kallikrein 2 (hK2). These prodrugs are useful for substantially inhibiting the non-specific toxicity of a variety of therapeutic drugs. Upon cleavage of the prodrug by hK2, the therapeutic drugs are activated and exert their toxicity. Methods for treating cell proliferative disorders are also featured in the invention.

  • Publication number: 20060121594
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for treating a waste material, particularly an aqueous waste material containing fats, oils and greases (FOG), involving the use of at least two stages in which, in the first stage, the aqueous waste material is subjected to a separation step in which water is removed to leave a partially refined stream containing the FOG followed by a second treatment stage, in which the partially refined FOG stream is further refined by removing more of the water so as to produce a FOG-containing stream that has a low water content which can be used as a fuel. In one embodiment, the refined FOG is used as a fuel for a combustion engine, typically a hydrogen assisted combustion engine for generating electricity. The energy generating plant can be combined with the waste treatment plant or the two can be separated from each other.

  • Patent number: 6748436
Abstract: A system, method, and program for managing users, groups, servers, and resources in a heterogeneous network environment are disclosed. The network environment includes a configuration server coupled to a number of deployment servers, which each operates under a specific platform. In response to receipt of a generic command for management of a user, group, server, or resource by the configuration server, a determination is made based on pre-assignment as to which one of the deployment servers is the appropriate deployment server that is to receive the generic command. The generic command is mapped to a specific-platform command executable under the respective specific platform of the appropriate deployment server. The specific-platform command is executed by the appropriate deployment server to complete a task for performing the generic command. In a preferred embodiment, a set of generic commands for managing the users, groups, servers, and resources in the heterogeneous networked environment is defined.

  • Publication number: 20030076529
Abstract: A method which allows a user through a portable device to print documents which are remotely stored is disclosed. The user designates a first document among the documents to be printed as an instruction in a portable device. Such an instruction is sent from the portable device to a local printer via a portable device communication port in the local printer, where it is further passed to a host computer connected to the local printer and capable of accessing the documents. According to the instruction, the host computer retrieves the first document and subsequently prints out the retrieved first document on the local printer.

  • Publication number: 20030070094
Abstract: A method for transferring data across a firewall is provided. According to the invention, a host computer which can access the data sends a poll periodically to a target computer for a presence of a data transfer instruction in the target computer. If the data transfer instruction is present in the target computer, in response to the poll, the target computer sends a response to the host computer to inform the host computer of at least part of the instruction. Based on the response from the target computer, the host computer transmits the data across the firewall to the target computer according to the part of the instruction.

  • Publication number: 20020156869
Abstract: A method for transferring one of a plurality of data stored in a sub-computer system to a target computer system using a mobile device is provided. In such a method, the mobile device initiates the process by sending instructions to a central computer system via a first network. The instructions designate a first piece of data to be transmitted as well as the target computer system to which the first piece of data is to be transmitted. According to the instructions, the central computer system retrieves the designated first piece of data from the sub-computer system. The first piece of data then is transmitted from the central computer system to the target computer system.
