  • Patent number: 4248901
Abstract: Two containers housing an expandable food product are placed in face-to-face juxtaposition and a sleeve complemental in shape to the exterior panels of the facing containers is wrapped around the containers to form a unitized package. The sleeve is bisected by a perforated score line which enables the sleeve to be separated into two pieces. Each piece has a linear and undulating edge wherein the sleeve half can be placed in a microwave oven on its linear edge to support one of the containers above the oven surface on the undulating edge enabling the microwave energy to be distributed along all surfaces of the container to heat the food product within the container.

  • Patent number: 4230261
Abstract: A lunch box carton made from a single cardboard blank with an attractive reclosable gabled top and an auto-erecting lock bottom. The lunch box carton has a tapered side wall construction, forming an inverted truncated pyramidal configuration to enable stacked nesting of a plurality of the cartons. The lunch box carton is of a knock-down variety which can be shipped in a flattened configuration and is further provided with an auto-erecting lock bottom to facilitate erection of the carton. The top portion of the carton is attractively gabled in configuration, providing additional interior volume, and includes integral carrying handles. Further, the carton is provided with movable wedge shaped locking portions pivotally connected on the top of the carton which can be interengaged with apertures provided in the side wall of the carton, to securely lock the carton in the closed condition. In addition, to prevent lateral shifting of the top of the carton, the carrying handles are secured by folding tabs.

  • Patent number: 4228899
Abstract: A multi-sided container, preferably formed of a unitary blank of paperboard, having a frangible perforated line in the center of a front panel defining a dispensing flap and two sets of fold lines radiating away from opposed sides of the perforated line. Once the perforated line is fully severed, pressure on the side panels adjacent the front panel causes the dispensing flap to move away from the front panel to define an enlarged dispensing orifice out of which the contents of the container may be poured. The perforated line has a linear portion and two curvilinear portions in the form of arcs of a circle, some of the radiating fold lines being tangent thereto.

  • Patent number: 4216864
Abstract: A multi-sided container, preferably formed of a unitary blank of paperboard, having two adjacent top closure flaps which are connected by a fold line and which have fold lines and frangible perforated lines therein to define three hingedly connected, superimposed triangular areas. Upon severance of these perforated lines, the three triangular areas are pulled away from the container to unfold them from their superimposed position, thereby forming the spout. A third top closure flap is also provided, which flap has a fourth triangular area that is superimposed on the top of the other three.

  • Patent number: 4201331
Abstract: A butterfly carton made from a single blank with an auto-erecting lock bottom, and a recloseable top portion including an attractive butterfly wing shaped design. The butterfly carton is of a knock-down variety which can be shipped in a flattened configuration and is further provided with an auto-erecting lock bottom to facilitate erection of the carton. The carton is provided with movable triangular shaped locking portions, pivotally connected to the top of the carton, which are interengaged with V-shaped slots provided in the side wall of the carton, to securely lock the carton in the closed condition. The top portion of the carton is also provided with butterfly wing shaped tabs which are interengaged to provide secondary locking of the carton. In addition, the butterfly wing shaped tabs are maintained at an angle relative to the top of the carton to create an aesthetically pleasing design.

  • Patent number: 4197985
Abstract: A dispensing carton made from a single blank which is capable of being formed, filled and sealed on automatic equipment. The dispensing carton is made tamperproof by providing for a cover tab, which must be removed from the carton before a slidable closure section can be displaced to open the carton. The removal of the cover tab permanently alters the appearance of the carton which acts as a deterrent to tampering. The dispensing carton further provides a slidable closure section rupturably connected to the carton, which requires no hinge connection to the carton after its initial use. The slidable closure section is further provided with a locking flange which cooperates with a cut line in the carton to control the longitudinal displacement of the closure section.

  • Patent number: 4191289
Abstract: A self-standing display carton for containing and displaying an article has a generally hourglass configuration and comprises first and second spaced apart end walls and four upstanding sidewalls connecting the end walls. The sidewalls include a first pair of sidewalls, each having a generally U-shaped configuration including first and second end panels and an intermediate panel disposed between the end panels, the end panels inclining inwardly from their respective end wall to their respective intermediate panel. The intermediate panels of the first pair of sidewalls are in substantial abutting relationship and disposed generally perpendicular to the planes of the first and second end walls. Each of the first pair of sidewalls includes an aperture substantially conforming to the configuration of the article to be contained within the carton.
