  • Patent number: 5760116
Abstract: A composition comprising the hydrosilylation addition product of a linear alkenyl functionalized polyorganosiloxane and an M.sup.H Q resin and a low molecular weight silicone when subjected to shearing provides for components in personal care formulations that have improved spreadability and substance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 1996
Date of Patent: June 2, 1998
    Assignee: General Electric Company
Inventors: John A. Kilgour, Virginia Van Valkenburgh Powell
  • Patent number: 5360571
Abstract: Synergistic surfactant compositions. Polysiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymers in which the polyether pendants bear carboxylic acid groups or salts of carboxylic acid groups are demonstrated to have synergystic interactions with anionic and cationic organic surfactants to improve the surface characteristics of a solution, requiring unexpectedly low concentrations to obtain specific surface tension values or to attain critical micelle concentrations in aqueous solutions. Compositions containing an organic surfactant and a polysiloxane-polyoxyalkylene copolymer bearing carboxyl groups are claimed. A method for modifying the surface properties of an aqueous system by employing such compositions as components of the system is also claimed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 31, 1992
Date of Patent: November 1, 1994
    Assignee: OSi Specialties, Inc.
Inventors: John A. Kilgour, George A. Policello
  • Patent number: 5198474
Abstract: Siloxane-polyether copolymer surfactants for manufacture of high resiliency polyurethane foam which are capped with t-butyl groups on the ends of the polyether blocks, polyurethane foam compositions containing such surfactants, a method for making polyurethane foam using such surfactants, and polyurethane foam made the method are disclosed and claimed. The t-butyl-capped surfactants afford improved surfactant potencies and foam breathabilities relative to the commonly-employed methyl-capped surfactants.

Date of Patent: March 30, 1993
Assignee: Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics Technology Corporation
    Inventor: John A. Kilgour
  • Patent number: 4769174
Abstract: This invention describes novel molded flexible polyurethane foam surfactants which can be used in foam having high concentrations of reinforcing graft copolymer solids. The invention also describes an improved process for making these foams using the novel surfactants.
