  • Patent number: 6288811
Abstract: The present invention provides a flexible WDM optical communication system in which each optical channel of the WDM optical communication signal can simultaneously accept multiple data formats. In one embodiment, the WDM optical system includes an optical waveguide having an optical add-drop multiplexer to selectively add and/or drop one or more optical channels to/from the WDM signal carried on the waveguide. A first source of data imparts information onto a first optical channel in a packet format while a second source of data imparts information onto the first optical channel in a time division multiplexed format. Other data sources having other data formats may also be included. An optical network interface electrically communicates with the data sources, placing the data from these sources onto the first optical channel which is generated from an optical source such as a laser. An optical path carries the optical channel from the optical source to the optical add-drop multiplexer.

  • Patent number: 5855733
Abstract: A press pad for use in a laminating press comprises a woven fabric of heat resistant strands. A substantial proportion of either the warp (B) or the weft (A) comprises a silicone elastomer. Preferably, the silicone elastomer has a specific gravity within the range of 1.1 g/cm.sup.3 to 1.4 g/cm.sup.3 inclusive but advantageously, the silicone elastomer has a specific gravity of 1.20.+-.0.02 g/cm.sup.3. In preferred embodiments the weft (A) comprises silicone covered copper wire whilst the warp (B) comprises at least one of stainless steel wires, copper wires, copper alloy wires, copper wires wrapped with an aromatic polyamide yarn, stainless steel wires wrapped with an aromatic polyamide yarn, aromatic polyamide yarn, and polyester yarn.

  • Patent number: 5203469
Abstract: A tool box including a body having two side surfaces, a depression, a slot and a groove formed in one end of each of the side surfaces, the slot inclined from the depression to a middle and upper portion of the body, the groove extended vertically from the depression to the bottom portion of the body, and a cover including a pair of flanges each having a stub formed integral on one end for engagement with the depressions of the body, whereby, the stubs are slidable along either the slots or the grooves.

  • Patent number: 3962539
Abstract: A device for ciphering a block of data bits under control of a cipher key. The cipher device performs a ciphering process for the block of data by carrying out an operation in which the block of data bits is first expanded by duplicating predetermined ones of the data bits. The data bits of the expanded block are combined by modulo-2 addition with an equal number of cipher key bits, selected in accordance with an arbitrary but fixed permutation, to produce a plurality of multi-bit segments forming the arguments for a plurality of different nonlinear substitution function boxes. The substitution boxes perform a plurality of nonlinear transformation functions to produce a substitution set of bits which are equal in number to the number of data bits in the first half of the message block. The substitution set of bits is then subjected to a linear transformation in accordance with an arbitrary but fixed permutation.
