  • Patent number: 4215445
Abstract: A portable toilet of the type having two vertically stacked sections, the lower section (12) being a holding tank, and the upper section (14) including a toilet bowl (22), a water tank (26) for storage of water for flush purposes, and a pump (30) for flushing the toilet bowl. To provide a source of chemicals for inserting into the holding tank, a storage chamber (66) is formed in the top wall (38) of the holding tank so as to be confined within the walls (18) of the upper section. To provide a source of toilet tissue paper, a storage chamber (76) is provided between the upper and lower sections (12) and (14) and a toilet tissue paper holder (78) is mounted therein.

  • Patent number: 4185340
Abstract: Toilet apparatus that has a plurality of improved features including: a sealing mechanism for closing the bottom opening of a toilet bowl so that the effectiveness of the seal is maintained over extended periods of time, a flushing circuit that has a water reservoir that assures proper depth is achieved in the pool of water that is formed after the sealing mechanism is closed, an over flow tube which assures that the water seal therein is maintained, and a control valve which has an inlet fitting that assures that damage to the valve or related parts does not occur during installation of the toilet apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4180876
Abstract: A portable toilet that has a lower holding tank with an inlet port in the top wall, and removably supported thereon an upper unit that contains a toilet bowl with an oulet port in registry with said inlet port, a flush water storage tank and flush means for discharging flush water from the storage tank into said bowl. Improved features include apparatus in the adjacent top and bottom walls of the holding tank and upper unit for releasably clamping them together, a discharge spout for the holding tank located between the adjacent walls so that the outlet of the spout is in a cavity in the bottom wall of the upper unit above the liquid level of the holding tank, and a valve-and-nozzle assembly and associated flexible conduit from the flush pump which is constructed and arranged to press fit all of the components together and mount them in proper location with respect to the toilet bowl.

  • Patent number: 4145773
Abstract: Apparatus for venting a sealed holding tank of a portable toilet to equalize the atmosphere and tank pressures before opening and closing the inlet port of the holding tank, said holding tank including a valve assembly for opening and closing the inlet port of the tank, and a vent port means in the tank associated with the valve assembly so that when the valve assembly is moved toward its open position, the vent means will be opened immediately prior to opening of the inlet port and when the valve assembly is moved toward its closed position, the vent port will be closed immediately after closing of the inlet port.

  • Patent number: 4032996
Abstract: An improved sealing mechanism for closing the bottom opening of a toilet bowl and adapted to be moved between open and closed positions with a minimum of human effort. The mechanism includes a movable blade and an elastic seal in the form of a curtain that functions to wipe foreign material from the blade when the latter is moved between open and closed positions, the curtain also functioning to provide a seal when the blade is in its closed position. The blade is supported so that when in its closed position it will always align itself with respect to the curtain to maintain an optimum seal. The blade is pivotally supported on an arm of a vertically disposed crank which is spring-actuated to an upper position and which can be depressed and pivoted for moving the blade between its closed and open positions.

  • Patent number: 3949430
Abstract: A self-contained portable sanitation unit formed in two vertically stacked sections. The top section includes a seat and cover, a bowl having an outlet port at its bottom, walls defining with the bowl a flush water chamber surrounding the bowl, and pump flush apparatus for discharging flush water into the bowl. The pump apparatus and the bowl are constructed and arranged to assure that the flush water is discharged from a discharge nozzle in a stream against the bowl wall so as to substantially eliminate "spitting" or other undesirable splashing of water thereby eliminating need for a flush rim. The lower section functions as a holding tank and is sealed from the environment by a manually actuated slide valve assembly which has its valve body and valve blade located within the holding tank to conserve vertical space, and the handle for the valve blade is located at the front of the unit.
