  • Publication number: 20090307844
Abstract: An apparatus comprises a frame and a transport assembly supporting the frame. The transport assembly is configured to selectively move relative to the frame between a transport position and a brake position. A portion of the frame frictionally engages a portion of the transport assembly in the brake position to affect a brake application that resists the transportation of the frame. The portion of the frame is disengaged from the portion of the transport assembly in the transport position to allow for transportation of the frame.

  • Patent number: 5116067
Abstract: A support structure for disabled persons that can be adapted to attach standard wheelchair wheels for providing mobility to the disabled person while allowing interchanging accessories to change the support structure for use in sporting events such as racing and water or snow skiing. The support structure includes a cushioned member adjustably attached to a single piece elongated frame. The frame and the member include upwardly depending sides. The frame includes slots and holes to attach a propellable wheelchair wheel at the standard position and at a racing position. A steering structure is included for operation while racing. Sockets are formed in the frame to attach the pivot wheels of the wheelchair and to attach water and snow-skis to the support structure to replace the wheels.

  • Patent number: 4954965
Abstract: In a CSMA/CD communication protocol, data to be sent from one device on a communication network to another is put into frames, or predetermined sized pieces of information. One of the fields in a frame, the pad field, is used to make the total size of the frame large enough to ensure that a collision anywhere in the network with another frame is detected by the senders. The pad field is further used to identify when a data record will be continued in the next frame and also to identify when multiple data records are being sent in the same frame.

  • Patent number: 4596119
Abstract: A compressed air propulsion system is provided to be adapted for use with a vehicle, and comprises a transaxle mechanism adapted to be mounted to and driven by the vehicle wheels, and an air compressor coupled to the output shaft of the transaxle mechanism to be driven thereby. The air compressor supplies a flow of compressed air to an air distributor system connected to the vehicle engine. The air distributor system comprises a plurality of solenoids connected to the air lines leading to the engine cylinders, and a respective plurality of microswitches are electrically connected to the solenoids to sequentially operate the solenoids for sequentially supplying compressed air to the engine cylinders. The microswitches are sequentially actuated mechanically by a rotor secured to the distributor shaft, which is coupled to the vehicle crankshaft. An accelerator is also provided for controllably varying the flow rate of compressed air to the air distributor system.
