  • Publication number: 20100160449
Abstract: Aqueous well treatment fluid compositions with biocidal activity are disclosed comprising a polymer for modifying fluid viscosity in the aqueous fluid, an organic monocarboxylic peracid being present in an anti-microbial amount of about 1 ppm to about 1000 ppm, and a controlled amount of hydrogen peroxide also being present. Peracetic acid is the preferred peracid. The viscosity-modifying polymer in the aqueous well treatment fluid composition may serve to reduce friction in the fluid or increase fluid viscosity. A method of using such compositions is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100140186
Abstract: This invention is a method for removing acrylamide from large bodies of water or from other acrylamide-containing aqueous fluids. The acrylamide-containing water or aqueous fluid is treated with a peroxygen that is preferably persulfate, hydrogen peroxide or activated peracetic acid. The invention is particularly useful for treatment of acrylamide-containing aqueous fluids associated with oil and gas drilling and recovery applications and includes aqueous well treatment fluid compositions comprising an acrylamide-derived polymer and a peroxygen compound capable of generating free radicals, useful in slickwater well treatment applications.

  • Publication number: 20090312292
Abstract: The invention relates to anti-microbial compositions useful against a wide range of microorganisms undesirable on a wide variety of materials, including food, food contact and non-food contact surfaces, and surfaces in industrial, recreational, health care, and other institutional environments. More particularly, the anti-microbial compositions comprise peracetic acid in combination with a) citric acid or a salt and b) salicylic acid or a salt in aqueous solution.
