  • Publication number: 20080196564
Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for single transfer insert placement. The apparatus receives continuous web material and cuts a discrete section or pad from the web. The pad is then supported on a single transfer surface. The single transfer surface then may spin the supported pad to a desired angle and provide the pad to a receiving surface at a desired interval.

  • Patent number: 7398870
Abstract: An apparatus for transferring articles such as absorbent cores or disposable diaper chassis components from a rotary mechanism, such as a pad turner, to a linear mechanism, such as a conveyor, for further processing. The invention provides a device for picking an article from the outside of a toroidal surface, thence extending transversely under tension the article to be transferred so that at the point of deposition the article is held flat and at full length. Further, the invention allows for apparatus to match the velocity of both the first and second transfer points, even if these velocities are not the same. The device is of particular benefit where an article to be transferred is subject to internally biasing elastic forces.

  • Publication number: 20080129803
Abstract: A method of making an inkjet print cartridge comprises forming a cartridge body (30) and applying directly to the surface of the body first and second sets of electrical terminals (40a, 42a) selectively connected by conductive tracks (44). A printhead (68) is mounted to the body (30) in electrical connection with the first set of terminals (40a). The second set of terminals (42a) is adapted for electrical connection to printer circuitry. The electrical terminals and conductive tracks may be located in corresponding recesses in the cartridge body, being deposited therein by squeegee or inkjet printing.

  • Patent number: 7374627
Abstract: A method of forming a lap seam for a disposable undergarment is disclosed. The method involves the steps of providing a continuous web of material, folding the material, cutting the material into individual undergarment blanks, folding the edges of the individual blanks, and sealing the edges. The method preferably employs undergarment blanks that are asymmetrical in shape.

  • Publication number: 20080112327
Abstract: A method for performing alternate and therefore least cost routing in distributed H.323 Voice over IP (VoIP) networks is provided. With this method, the VoIP network consists of a hierarchy of gatekeeper (GK) functions to provide alternate routing, network element redundancy, and scalability. The alternate routing function is performed by a directory gatekeeper with route selection advancing from a first route to a second route by either of two conditions: (1) there are no resources available to terminate the call in the first zone; and (2) a lack of response to the directory GK request for such resources.

  • Publication number: 20070284048
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing disposable undergarments having areas of defined elastic material is disclosed. The method provides for staggered cutting knives for severing the elastic material, which results in less necessary material used in the construction of the undergarments.

  • Publication number: 20070267149
Abstract: A system for removing chips from a web is disclosed, the system having a rotationally variable speed shoe for receiving a chip, a rotationally constant speed transfer roll for receiving a portion of a web from a die and anvil system, with the shoe initially rotating at a constant speed, slowing to allow a portion of the web to rip away from the chip at a leading rotational edge of the chip, next increasing in rotational speed to allow the chip to rip away from the web at a trailing rotational edge of the chip.

  • Publication number: 20060274733
Abstract: A method and system is provided for performing inbound call screening in a packet-based network, such as an H.323 Voice over IP (VoIP) network. The inbound gateways on the network are registered with inbound gatekeepers, and standard messages are used between an inbound gateway, an inbound gatekeeper and an inbound screening database to decide: whether an inbound call to a particular called number (DID) is to be allowed into the network; whether the called number should be translated into a different called number; and whether a routing index should be included in the called number to indicate the destination of the call.
