  • Publication number: 20200409765
Abstract: A system determines future resource allocation for a software application in a software portfolio. The system identifies the users of the software application, and receives from the users data relating to usage of the software application by the users. Using the data, the system determines the value of the software application. The system then automatically assigns resources to the software application when the value of the software application exceeds a threshold, and removes the software application from the software portfolio when the value of the software application falls below the threshold.

  • Publication number: 20200343013
Abstract: An electromagnetic mechanical pulser implements a transverse wave metallic comb stripline TWMCS kicker having inwardly opposing teeth that retards a phase velocity of an RF traveling wave to match the kinetic velocity of a continuous electron beam, causing the beam to oscillate before being chopped into pulses by an aperture. The RF phase velocity is substantially independent of RF frequency and amplitude, thereby enabling independent tuning of the electron pulse widths and repetition rate. The TWMCS further comprises an electron pulse picker (EPP) that applies a pulsed transverse electric field across the TWMCS to deflect electrons out of the beam, allowing only selected electrons and/or groups of electrons to pass through. The EPP pulses can be synchronized with the RF traveling wave and/or with a pumping trigger of a transverse electron microscope (TEM), for example to obtain dynamic TEM images in real time.

  • Patent number: 10774647
Abstract: A method of casting a rotor using a cavity and core mold allows a longitudinal slot oriented transversely to the axis of rotation to be finish ground to high precision and tight tolerances by casting the slot to have a wider section which extends from the axis to a radius greater than the radii of the hubs of the rotor, and a narrower section which extends from the wider section to the outer surface of the rotor. The geometrical relation of the slot sections to the hubs as cast permits the grinding step to be performed without forming a leak path in either of the hubs.

  • Patent number: 10731465
Abstract: A rotor assembly has a vane which engages an eccentric cam block using an insert. The insert is removably attached to the vane. The vane is captured within a transverse slot in the rotor and executes reciprocal motion transversely to the axis of rotation of the rotor as the rotor rotates.

  • Publication number: 20200180245
Abstract: A method to improve thermal performance of vascular composites by using a two-phase working fluid for isothermalization includes the steps of: manufacturing a vascular composite structure optimized for a design point; manufacturing a thermal back end sized for the application; integrating the vascular composite into a fluid loop; and evacuating and filling the fluid loop with working fluid to an amount resulting in two-phase operation at the design point.

  • Patent number: 10611112
Abstract: A tire building drum is rotatably mounted on a central drive shaft and includes a center portion. A center mechanism for the drum is disposed in the center portion and includes a hub that seats on and is secured to the central drive shaft. An axially-extending piston seats on and extends circumferentially about the hub. A cylinder cooperates with the hub and the piston to form a pneumatic chamber. A plurality of links are connected to the piston and a plurality of segment bars are disposed about the circumference of the center mechanism. Each one of the segment bars is connected to selected links and seats between a lip of the cylinder and a distal end plate. When compressed air is introduced into the pneumatic chamber, the piston moves in an axial direction, actuating movement of the links and in turn actuating radial movement of the segment bars.

  • Patent number: 10515733
Abstract: An electromagnetic mechanical pulser implements a transverse wave metallic comb stripline TWMCS kicker having inwardly opposing teeth structured to retard a phase velocity of an RF traveling wave propagated therethrough to match the kinetic velocity of a continuous electron beam simultaneously propagated therethrough. The kicker imposes transverse oscillations onto the beam, which is subsequently chopped into pulses by an aperture. The RF phase velocity is substantially independent of RF frequency and amplitude, thereby enabling independent tuning of the electron pulse widths and repetition rate. The exterior surface of the kicker is conductive, thereby avoiding electron charging. In embodiments, various elements of the kicker and/or aperture can be mechanically varied to provide further tuning of the pulsed electron beam. A divergence suppression section can include a mirror TWMCS and/or magnetic quadrupoles.
