  • Publication number: 20090236453
Abstract: A drive mechanism particularly suited for use in a manual grinder for the grinding of edible grindable product. The drive mechanism includes a toothed ring 15 is engaged with a toothed rack 21. A split sleeve 16 is located within the toothed gear 15 and a shaft 14 is engaged in the bore of the split sleeve 16. The split sleeve 16 is coupled (38, 40) to the toothed gear 15 such that relative movement between the split sleeve 16 and the gear 15 can occur when the rack is moved in a first position. This movement in the first direction results in contraction of the bore of the split sleeve 16 so as to create a driving contact between the split sleeve and the shaft. Upon the rack being moved in the second direction the driving contact is removed whereby the split sleeve and toothed gear 15 can move independent of the shaft 14.

  • Patent number: 7513381
Abstract: A closure for the open mouth of an airtight container. The closure has a resiliently flexible diaphragm which has a peripheral edge (37) which can sealing engage against an inside wall surface of the open mouth. The diaphragm (13) is engaged with the second cover section (12) of a cover. A pair of toggles (24) are pivotally mounted on axles (22) of second cover section (12). The levers (30) of the toggles (24) extend through an opening (44) in the first or outer cover section (11) when the first and second cover sections (11,12) are snap-locked together. By moving the levers (30) toward one another the respective feet (27) of the toggle (24) engage with area (35) of the diaphragm (13) to deform the diaphragm and thereby break a sealing effect between the peripheral edge of the diaphragm and the inside wall surface of the open mouth.

  • Patent number: 7470784
Abstract: 2-Chloro-9-(2-deoxy-2-fluoro-?-D-arabinofuranosyl)-9H-purin-6-amine is synthesized by reacting a 2-chloro-6-substituted purine with a protected and activated 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-D-arabinofiranose; and reacting with a base such as ammonia to provide 2-chloro-9-(2-deoxy-2-fluoro-?-D-arabinofuranosyl)-9H-purin-6-amine. When the purine reactant is substituted in the 6 position with a halogen, a reaction step with an alkoxide is carried out prior to the reaction with ammonia.

  • Publication number: 20080110621
Abstract: A method of managing lost returns in a wellbore is disclosed. The method includes contacting a filter cake with a treating fluid to remove metallic weighting agents from the filter cake, wherein the filter cake is disposed on a face of a formation fracture in the wellbore. The method also includes contacting the filter cake with a proppant slurry, wherein the proppant slurry contacts the filter cake concurrently with the treating fluid or after the treating fluid contacts the filter cake. This method may include increasing the filter cake permeability and may utilize a barite removal agent, such as a chelation agent. At least one related wellbore management method is disclosed, which provides for creating a fracture in the wellbore and propping open the fracture to increase wellbore integrity to utilize higher weight drilling fluids and prevent fractures from forming further down the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 7363762
Abstract: A method of assembling a gas turbine engine includes providing a gas turbine engine including a compressor, a combustor downstream from the compressor, and a turbine coupled to the compressor, and coupling a seal assembly aft of the compressor such that air discharged through the seal assembly facilitates reducing the cavity pressure, and therefore reducing the axial forces induced to an aft side of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 7341429
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a gas turbine engine includes providing a turbine mid-frame, coupling a plurality of rotor blades to a rotor disk, the rotor disk is coupled axially aft from the turbine mid-frame such that a cavity is defined between the rotor disk and the turbine mid-frame, and forming at least one opening extending through the turbine mid-frame to facilitate channeling cooling air into the gap, the opening configured to impart a high relative tangential velocity into the cooling air discharged from the opening.

  • Patent number: 7311887
Abstract: A process reduces SOx emissions in a flue gas stream by adding a wet collector plate section to an existing electrostatic precipitator (ESP) or by converting the last field of an existing ESP to wet operation. To achieve the conversion, the last field or fields of an existing dry ESP are removed and replaced with components made from materials suitable for operation in a wet environment. After the ESP contains wet operation, ammonia is added to the flue gas stream while it is progressing through the collection plates in the ESP.

  • Publication number: 20070027036
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention is a variable density drilling mud comprising compressible particulate material in the drilling mud wherein the density of the drilling mud changes in response to pressure changes at depth. A second embodiment is a method for varying drilling mud density. The method comprises estimating the pore pressure and fracture gradient, and choosing a drilling mud with compressible materials wherein the effective mud weight of the drilling mud remains between the pore pressure and the fracture gradient in at least one interval of the wellbore. A third embodiment is an apparatus for drilling a wellbore.
