  • Publication number: 20240200443
Abstract: Systems and methods that enable acoustic communications through a drill pipe even when the drill pipe is being held in floor slips. In one embodiment, multiple self-contained acoustic receivers are positioned at different locations on a drilling rig to receive acoustic telemetry signals from a downhole tool through various acoustic channels. The acoustic receivers may have components (e.g., vibration sensor, microprocessor, wireless transmitter, magnet) encased in a translucent encapsulant, which avoids exposed components that could otherwise create a spark in the hazardous drilling rig environment. Acoustic telemetry signals are communicated through the drill pipe and rig structure to the different acoustic receivers and the acoustic receivers communicate data corresponding to the received acoustic signals to a central processor that can process the signals to generate acoustic telemetry data that has a greater signal-to-noise ratio than the signals received by the individual acoustic receivers.

  • Patent number: 12007999
Abstract: Techniques are provided for managing and operating a microservices architecture with ad distributed cache. A data provider microservice may modify a data object stored on a database managed by the data provider microservice. In response, the modified data object may be transmitted to the distributed cache for storage. A data consumer microservice may request a data object. The distributed cache may be searched for the requested object. If the requested object is stored at the distributed cache, the requested object may be provided to the data consumer microservice. If the requested object is not stored at the distributed cache, the data consumer microservice may issue a request for the data object to the data provider microservice that manages the database that stores the data object. The data provider microservice may provide the data object to the distributed cache for storage and provide the data object to the data consumer microservice.

  • Patent number: 12000717
Abstract: A linear rotary encoder includes a pair of rotational surfaces. A contact belt has a first end coupled to a first rotational surface in the pair and a second end coupled to a second rotational surface in the pair. The contact belt is driven to rotate around the pair of rotational surfaces by a driving force applied to media to move the media from the first end toward the second end. An encoding scale is coupled to an inner surface of the contact belt. A reader is positioned to read the encoding scale as the contact belt rotates around the pair of rotational surfaces. The reader generates an output signal indicating a position of the media based on reading of the encoding scale.

  • Publication number: 20240177411
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for calculating dynamic ambient occlusion (AO) values for character models to yield high-quality approximations of global illumination effects. The approach utilizes a dual component machine-learning model that factorizes dynamic AO computation into a non-linear component, in which visibility is determined by approximating spheres and their casted shadows, and a linear component that leverages a skinning-like algorithm for efficiency. The parameters of both components are trained in a regression against ground-truth AO values. The resulting model accommodates lighting interactions with external objects and can be generalized without requiring carefully constructed training data.

  • Publication number: 20240174320
Abstract: The disclosed method may include configuring one or more brakes based on a braking-related attribute expected at a geographic location being traversed by a personal mobility vehicle. By configuring the application of brakes of a personal mobility vehicle based on terrain, environmental conditions, and other geographic features, the system may reduce the risk of the vehicle skidding or tipping due to over-braking. In some embodiments, a rider may use a single brake lever to indicate a desire to brake and the system may make determinations about how to apply a combination of mechanical and electrical brakes to front and back wheels based at least in part on the location of the personal mobility vehicle. By configuring brake engagement based on a combination of controls and map data, the system may improve user experience and user safety, especially for inexperienced riders.
