  • Patent number: 7226006
Abstract: An apparatus and process for the separation, recovery and recycling of municipal solid waste (MSW) in which hot water 48 is added to shredded and homogenized MSW 2 as it enters a rotating feed preparation drum 34 equipped with internal lifter blades 36. The blades 36 and rotation of the drum 34 cause mixing and pulping of the MSW before discharge into a rotating thermal processor 56 also equipped with lifter blades 58 and cone section 64, and in which the moist MSW 2 is heated by heating the hot gases in the processor by a flame from burner 62 which converts the moisture in the MSW to steam. The steam permeates through the MSW as it is turned and lifted in the thermal processor 56, causing further pulping. The now cooked and treated MSW 2 is then fed to a conveyor 68 for transportation to a trommel screen for the separation of recyclable components.

  • Publication number: 20070099524
Abstract: A composite has a fibrous layer bonded to an outer side of an impermeable barrier layer. The composite is assembled on a panel composition that provides a panel substrate. The barrier layer isolates the fibrous layer from the panel composition. The fibrous layer is exposed from the barrier layer and is free of the panel composition to adhere another material to the panel. Alternatively, the composite has another fibrous layer bonded to an inner side of the barrier layer for embedding in the panel composition.

  • Publication number: 20060283260
Abstract: A reusable washer assembly apparatus includes a generally ring-shaped flexible inner member, a generally ring-shaped outer member, a distal washer member, and a proximate washer member. The outer member is disposed around the inner member and is adapted for at least partial rotation about the inner member. The flexible inner member and outer member define a first gap between each other. The distal washer member communicates with a first surface of the inner member and the proximate washer member communicates with a second surface of the inner member. An applied force to at least one of the proximate washer member and the distal washer member causes the flexible inner member to deform and at least partially fill the first gap thereby preventing rotation of the outer member when the applied force reaches a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20060148428
Abstract: A fixed wireless access communications system comprises an access point and a plurality of subscriber units. Each subscriber unit (502) contends for access to a communications channel to the access point by transmitting a contention word to the access point during a contention time slot. The contention word is predistorted to compensate for the channel impulse response of the transmission channel so that the access point can decode the contention words without using equalisation. A control unit (512), which may comprise a microprocessor, loads the predistorted contention word (a) into a memory (520) and causes the stored predistorted contention word (a) to be applied to a transmitter (508) during a contention time slot when the subscriber unit (502) wishes to request a transmission channel to transmit data to the access point.

  • Publication number: 20060135022
Abstract: This invention provides multi-layered composites, laminates and composite joints in which at least one resin-impregnated, fiber-containing layer is joined or laminated to a core layer having a lower flexural modulus or higher elongation at break, higher toughness, or a combination of all or some of these properties. The multi-layer composite produced by laminating or joining these materials together has improved shearout, impact and cutting resistance, since stresses caused by outside forces can be more widely distributed throughout the composite.

  • Publication number: 20060107751
Abstract: A preload indicating washer assembly that operates in the elastic region for a rated compression is disclosed. Because it operates in the elastic region, the preload indicating washer assembly resumes its original shape when the compression is decreased or removed. The washer assembly elastically deforms again to the same extent as its original deformation when the predetermined compression is restored. Thus the washer assembly will indicate the proper fastener preload when used for multiple loading cycles or in multiple locations.

  • Publication number: 20060108912
Abstract: A protected faceplate structure of a field emission display device is disclosed in one embodiment. Specifically, in one embodiment, the present invention recites a faceplate of a field emission display device wherein the faceplate of the field emission display device is adapted to have phosphor containing wells disposed above one side thereof. The present embodiment is further comprised of a barrier layer which is disposed over the one side of said faceplate which is adapted to have phosphor containing wells disposed thereabove. The barrier layer of the present embodiment is adapted to prevent degradation of the faceplate. Specifically, the barrier layer of the present embodiment is adapted to prevent degradation of the faceplate due to electron bombardment by electrons directed towards the phosphor containing wells.

  • Publication number: 20060105653
Abstract: This invention provides facing materials for cementitious boards such as those including Portland cement or gypsum cores. The preferred facing material includes, in a first embodiment, a facing layer having an areal weight of about 300 grams/M2, and an air permeability rating of no greater than about 300 CFM/ft2 (FG 436-910 test method). The facing layer reduces the penetration of a slurry of cementitious material during the manufacture of a cementitious board, while permitting the water vapor from the slurry to pass therethrough. The facing materials of this invention can be designed to substantially eliminate the fouling of rolls used in continuous processing of such boards without the use, or with greatly reduced use, of costly viscosity control agents in the slurry.
