Publication number: 20190141022Abstract: Proposed are concepts for managing communication between off-premise and on-premise servers. Also proposed are concepts for managing authentication between off-premise and on-premise servers. A security component may identify stored authentication data associated with a requested application, and then modify an authentication placeholder of the request using the identified authentication data to generate a modified application request comprising authentication information for authorizing the application request.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2017Publication date: May 9, 2019Inventors: John A. Patent number: 10223433Abstract: Systems, methods and tools for mapping data elements between a source data structure and a target data structure without the needing exactly matching values or a dictionary of synonyms. The embodiments of the present disclosure auto map data elements having similar phonetic sounds, even in the presence of one or more misspellings or alternative spellings. Embodiments of the present disclosure utilize Soundex algorithms to generate a key corresponding to each source and target data elements. Each Soundex key may be generated based on the phonetical sounds of the source and target data elements. By using phonetical sounds to generate the key, a Soundex algorithm allows for similarly sounding words, alternatively spelled words or misspelled words to generate the same Soundex key, creating equivalence between the naming of source and target data elements once the auto mapping function is implemented.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2017Date of Patent: March 5, 2019Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Andrew J. Coleman, John A. Reeve

Patent number: 10033768Abstract: Preserving privacy related to networked media consumption activity. Source privacy zones are defined and associated with privacy standards. Privacy standards include frequency criteria governing the storage of datasets including information associated with networked media consumption activity collected from the source privacy zone. Transaction requests including a networking protocol address are received over a network from a client device at a target location by a networked privacy system. The source privacy zone associated with the client device is identified. Using the networking protocol address to access characteristics having characteristic value(s), a dataset can be created including associating the networked media consumption activity with the characteristic and characteristic value(s). The dataset is pre-processed to comply with the privacy standards. The networking protocol address is discarded.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2017Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: Quantcast CorporationInventor: Damian John Reeves

Patent number: 9996858Abstract: An adaptive bidder for networked advertising. A bid request is received from an exchange over a network. Each bid request represents the opportunity to bid on an advertising opportunity. A processing time limit is determined based at least in part on a network latency measurement, an exchange reported timeout and a bid response buffer. The network latency measurement may be required to meet a freshness standard. The bid response buffer represents the time allotted for the adaptive bidding system to generate a response based on one or more partial results. The exchange reported timeout value can be included in the bid request, and can vary from bid request to bid request. The execution of one or more tasks is initiated by the adaptive bidding system, and each task can make a partial result available. In some cases, a partial result is a cumulative result. A response is determined from one or more partial results which are available before the processing time limit expires.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2012Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: Quantcast CorporationInventors: Crispin Edward Harold Flowerday, Faraaz Aejaz Sareshwala, Damian John Reeves

Publication number: 20180124153Abstract: Proposed are concepts for managing communication between off-premises and on-premises servers. A file system event request from an application of a first server (such as an off-premises server or an on-premises server) is received and a requested file system is determined based on the received file system event request. Stored file system path data associated with the requested file system can then be identified. The file system event request is then communicated to a second server (such as an on-premises server or off-premises server) based on the identified file system path data.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2016Publication date: May 3, 2018Inventors: Trevor C. DOLBY, Matthew E. GOLBY-KIRK, John A. REEVE

Patent number: 9865226Abstract: A method of electronic image color correction may include receiving a first frame including pixel data for a first color component for a plurality of pixels. The method may include generating saved pixel data for the first color component and receiving a second frame subsequent to the first frame. The second frame may include pixel data for the first color component for the plurality of pixels. The method may include generating substitute pixel data for the first color component in response to determining that, in the second frame, the pixel data for the first color component is triggered by a threshold value for a particular percentage of the plurality of pixels. The substitute pixel data may be generated based on the saved pixel data. The method may include displaying the second frame using the substitute pixel data for the first color component for the plurality of pixels.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2014Date of Patent: January 9, 2018Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Roger A. Buckett, Stuart J. Reece, John A. Reeve

Publication number: 20170264460Abstract: Proposed are concepts for managing communication between off-premise and on-premise servers. A flow execution request from an application of an off-premise server or an on-premise server is received and a requested flow is determined based on the received flow execution request. Stored endpoint data associated with the requested flow can then be identified. The flow execution request is then communicated to an on-premise server or off-premise server based on the identified endpoint data.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2016Publication date: September 14, 2017Inventors: Andrew Coleman, Matthew E. Patent number: 8763012Abstract: Scalable, parallel (i.e., concurrent) processing of messages is provided from a message queue, while at the same time enforcing sequencing within a stream. Dependencies among messages can therefore be respected. The criteria for determining which messages form a stream are not required to be known to the message dispatcher, which receives a stream name and determines whether another message in that named stream is already being processed. If so, the dispatcher determines whether the invoker should wait temporarily, or should be given a different message that was previously blocked and has now become available for processing, or should be instructed to retrieve a different message from the message queue.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2012Date of Patent: June 24, 2014Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: John Hosie, John A. Reeve

Patent number: 8635265Abstract: Communication occurs between at least one server and a plurality of clients. Client-side connections are established between a traffic manager and clients, in response to clients making requests to communicate with a server. Server-side connections are created and maintained between the traffic manager and the server in order to service the client requests. At least one of the server-side connections is reused to service a client request.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2005Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Riverbed Technology, Inc.Inventors: Damian John Reeves, Ben Ross Mansell, Owen John Garrett, Crispin Edward Harold Flowerday

Patent number: 8468177Abstract: A business intelligence (BI) system which includes the ability to extend its functionality outside of the project life cycle by means of specific content. Complex multidimensional queries are interpreted as trees of atomic sub-expressions that are combined in a parse-tree-like structure to form the overall query. Each sub tree is valid in isolation when provided with the proper context. Any sub tree can be an expression template, stored as application content, which at generation time uses simple text substitution with instance specific parameters to produce multidimensional expression syntax. The system includes a sophisticated type system and semantic layer that hides the user from the complexities inherent in working with OLAP databases. A business intelligence expert can provide type and semantic cues for each expression template, held as content.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2010Date of Patent: June 18, 2013Assignee: Zap Holdings LimitedInventors: Christopher John Reeves, Todd William Meynink
