  • Patent number: 6099089
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing regenerative and friction braking on a vehicle having one or more wheels driven by a drive motor includes a master cylinder (28), a hydraulic control unit (30), a brake control unit (38), a drive motor control unit (52) and a drive motor (18). The drive motor control unit determines a coast down regenerative torque signal in response to an acceleration signal and a driver brake command regenerative torque signal in response to a pressure signal and a drive motor deceleration signal and commands the drive motor to regeneratively brake the driven left and right wheels in response thereto, thereby providing a desirable proportioning of front to rear braking.

  • Patent number: 5664958
Abstract: The present invention features a removable electrical connector or adapter for securing the contact prongs of an electric plug to a worn outlet. The connector has a housing with at least two opposing, nonconducting side portions. Each side portion has a top and a bottom. Two contact prongs are spaced apart from each other and are movably mounted to at least one of the side portions. The contact prongs extend out of the top of the housing, which housing also has at least one aperture at the bottom. Electrical plug prongs can be inserted through this aperture to make an electrical connection with the set of contact prongs. In another embodiment, the electrical connector is a self-contained plug, permanently attached to its associated electrical appliance, and having movable prongs and a spring for biasing the prongs inwardly, against the contacts of an outlet, after insertion.

  • Patent number: 4422624
Abstract: A burner for smelting metal-bearing sulfide ores or concentrates by means of an oxygen-rich gas is disclosed. The oxygen-rich gas is introduced into a chamber so as to aspirate or eject the metal-bearing sulfide ore or concentrate. The oxygen-rich gas and sulfide concentrate are intimately admixed in a cylindrical mixing chamber and then jetted into the heated atmosphere of a smelting furnace.

  • Patent number: 4085153
Abstract: Bromine chloride is contacted with a normally unreactive olefin such as 1,2-di, tri- or tetrahalo- ethylene or 1,2-di, tri- or tetraphenyl ethylene or 1-halo-2-phenyl ethylene or 1-halo-2-phenyl ethylene carrying in addition, one or more other halogen or phenyl substituents on the carbons of the double bond in a two-phase, aqueous-organic reaction medium containing a bromide salt dissolved in the aqueous phase to produce the dibrominated adduct of the olefin. By the process of the invention, tetrachloroethylene was brominated to give a 77% yield of 1,2-dibromotetrachloroethane.

  • Patent number: RE28798
Abstract: Bonding machines have transparent elements on their bonding axes. Magnified optical means are positioned to view bonding tips and integrated-circuit chips simultaneously through the transparent elements thereby facilitating alignment of the chips to the tips. In one embodiment a bonding tip is transparent and a transparent compliant bonding member is utilized in conjunction with the tip to produce compliant bonds. Another embodiment utilizes a transparent tip in a "hard tip" type of bonding operation. A third embodiment utilizes a transparent tray closely positionable to the bonding tip. After alignment of the tip to one of the chips is achieved the tray is removed and bonding proceeds on an accurately positioned substrate.
