  • Patent number: 10850236
Abstract: A mixing system has a parallel droplet dispenser capable of making droplets of a first working material in the range of 10 nanometers to 10 micrometers, a pump to deliver fluid for the droplets of the first working material and to produce a first emulsion, a compact mixer having low inter-voxel mixing to receive the emulsion and produce a homogenous material, and a dispensing system. A method of dispensing a graded material includes generating droplets of a first working material, the droplets having a size in the range of 10 nanometers to 10 micrometers, adding the droplets of the first working material into a fluid to create a first emulsion, wherein addition of the droplets of the first working material is controlled to create gradient in the emulsion, mixing the first emulsion to create a homogenous, graded mixture, and dispensing the homogenous, graded mixture onto a surface.

  • Publication number: 20200374308
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved approach for identifying security risks and breaches in a network by applying machine learning methods that learn resource access patterns in the network. Specifically, by observing the access pattern of the network entities (e.g. accounts, services, and hosts) from authorization requests/responses, the model through unsupervised learning, organizes the entity relationships into an ensemble of hierarchical models. The ensemble of hierarchical models can then be leveraged to create a series of metrics that can be used to identify various types of abnormalities in the access of a resource on the network. For instance, by further classifying the access request for a resource using abnormality scores into detection scenarios, the model is able to detect both an abnormality and the type of abnormality and include such information in a corresponding alarm when a security breach happens.

  • Patent number: 10823422
Abstract: A trapped vortex combustor for use in a gas turbine engine defines a radial direction, an axial direction, and a circumferential direction. The trapped vortex combustor includes an outer vortex chamber wall defining a forward end, and a dome attached to, or formed integrally with, the outer vortex chamber wall at the forward end of the outer vortex chamber wall. The dome and outer vortex chamber wall define at least in part a combustion chamber having an outer trapped vortex chamber. The dome includes an air chute defining an airflow direction. The radial direction and axial direction of the trapped vortex combustor define a reference plane extending through the air chute, the airflow direction of the air chute defining an angle greater than zero with the reference plane.

  • Patent number: 10801726
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a combustor assembly for a gas turbine engine. The combustor assembly includes a deflector wall, an annular axial wall, and an annular shroud. The deflector wall is extended at least partially along a radial direction and a circumferential direction relative to an axial centerline and adjacent to a combustion chamber. A fuel nozzle opening is defined through the deflector wall, and a nozzle centerline is extended through the fuel nozzle opening along a lengthwise direction. The annular axial wall is coupled to the deflector wall and extended through the fuel nozzle opening. The axial wall is defined around the nozzle centerline. The annular shroud is defined around the nozzle centerline and extended co-directional to the axial wall. The axial wall and the annular shroud are each coupled to a radial wall defined upstream of the deflector wall. The annular shroud, the axial wall, and the radial wall together define a cooling plenum therebetween.

  • Patent number: 10744686
Abstract: A system and method is provided for creating a structure including a vasculature network. A film deposition device is configured to dispense droplets onto a surface of a substrate to form a curable fugitive pre-patterned liquid film on the surface of the substrate. An electrohydrodynamic film patterning (EHD-FP) device has a patterned electrode structure formed to generate an electric field and to subject the film on the surface of the substrate to the electric field. The film thereby being formed by the EHD-FP into patterned features in response to being subjected to the electric field. Then a casting system is configured to cover the patterned features in an epoxy to form patterned structures, wherein the patterned structures comprise a fugitive vasculature structure.

The first part can include a first body configured to be disposed in a first portion of an opening in a panel, a first lumen disposed within the first body, and a first engagement area comprising a first contact area. The second part can include a second body configured to be disposed in a second portion of the opening in the panel, a second lumen disposed within the second body, and a second engagement area configured to engage the first contact area, wherein engaging the first contact area with the second engagement area causes deformation of the first part, the second part, or both to hold the first part and the second part within the opening such that the first lumen and the second lumen are disposed generally concentrically with each other. Corresponding methods are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10704753
Abstract: An auxiliary lamp for a vehicle. Ordinary headlamps are restricted by law in the intensity that they direct towards oncoming drivers. This can cause inconveniently low illumination to a side of the vehicle, such as along a line 20 or 25 degrees left of center for a left-hand driver side vehicle. An auxiliary headlamp assembly is added to provide an auxiliary beam that supplements the primary beam. The auxiliary beam increases illumination along this line, yet maintains total illumination toward oncoming drivers below allowed limits.

  • Patent number: 10697607
Abstract: A thin aspect lighting system and method are shown. The system and method include at least one module having a reflector that is generally elliptical in one cross-section and generally parabolic in another cross-section. Each module is adapted to generate at least one of a flat beam pattern, a high beam pattern or a low beam pattern, such as a low beam pattern with a kink or elbow. Also shown is a headlamp assembly having a plurality of modules that generate the same or a different light beam pattern. Manipulation and variation of facets and/or positions of various components, such as at least one light source, have been found to provide improved characteristics in one or more of the light beam patterns.

  • Publication number: 20200200354
Abstract: A headlamp for a vehicle. The headlamp uses individual light emitting didoes or LEDs to generate individual light beams, which collectively form a composite beam. Because of manufacturing irregularities, some of the individual beams overlap neighboring beams, and form bright spots within the composite beam, which are not desirable. It is possible to de-focus the individual beams, to thereby spread out the bright spots, and reduce their intensities. However, that de-focusing would conflict with another goal. When the vehicle follows another vehicle, some individual beams which would apply glare to the other vehicle are shut off. But it is desirable that the remaining active individual beams which flank the other vehicle have sharply defined edges. De-focusing would soften the edges. Therefore, one form of the invention selectively de-focuses individual beams only when they are not adjacent individual beams which are active.
