Abstract: An ophthalmic solution comprising a polyethoxylated glyceride in the range of 0.001 to about 10 percent by weight and a buffer agent. These solutions impart surprising comfort and wearability to contact lenses. At the same time the solutions provide good preservative capacity and do not increase protein deposit.

Abstract: A method and equipment for assessing the suitability of support surfaces such as mattresses and chairs is disclosed. The method comprises applying a load to each of two such support surfaces with a first indenter having a given profile and a substantially rigid form and measuring the interface pressure, applying the same load to each said surface with a second indenter having substantially the same profile as said first indenter, but having a viscoelastic form and measuring the interface pressure and deriving information as to the characteristics of the supporting surfaces by comparing said measurements.

Abstract: This is a system for controlling the heating of water in the tank, water in tank adapted to be heated by a first heater and a second heater, the system comprises a timer adapted to keep time, and a sensor to monitor the temperature of the water in the tank at a first position and the temperature of the water in the tank at a second position. The system is adapted to set a first set point temperature at a specified time and the first set point temperature is varied by the system over time. The system is also being adapted to set a second set point temperature the second set point temperature also being varied by the system over time. The system has an activator to activate the first heater to maintain the temperature of water in the tank at the first position at about the first set point temperature at a specified time. The system has an activator to activate the second heater to maintain the temperature of water in the tank at the second position at about the second set temperature at a specified time.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a support appliance in the form of a mattress formed from a resilient foam material having interconnecting air transmitting cells, the upper surface of the mattress having at least an impedance to gas flow whilst permitting transmission of water vapour from the outer to the inner side thereof for removal by air flow through the mattress effected by an air pump.
