  • Patent number: 11232185
Abstract: Some implementations provide input-triggered user verification. This may involve trigging a user verification (e.g., capture of an image, sound, fingerprint, etc.) to verify a user's identity based on input (e.g., typing) received ad the device. Triggering the user-verification based on receiving input may help ensure that the image, sound, fingerprint, etc. is captured at a time when the user is close to the device, touching the finger-print sensor, and/or in view of the camera during the capturing. Some implementations provide user verification based on a user-identification of a previously selected image. This may involve using an inmate-selected picture or other image to recover a forgotten alphanumeric reference. Some implementations of the invention disclosed herein provide user verification based on a computer-vision identification of a wearable identification tag. This may involve using an image of the user's identification tag worn on the user's wrist to verify the user's identity.

  • Patent number: 11118804
Abstract: A ceiling-mounted sensing unit includes (i) one or more air temperature sensors; (ii) an infrared sensor having a field of view oriented towards a floor of the room; and (iii) a microcontroller receiving readings from both the air temperature sensors and the infrared sensor, the microcontroller providing an estimated temperature at a predetermined distance above the floor of the room based on a model of the room. The model may be based on a double-exponential smoothing function obtained by matching a Kalman filter model. Alternately, the model may be itself a Kalman filter model or a machine learning trained linear model obtained using a linear regression technique, such as L2 regularization. The Kalman filter model uses a state vector that includes both the estimated temperature and a rate of change in the estimated change in temperature. The machine-trained model may be verified using a k-fold cross-validation technique.

  • Publication number: 20210267181
Abstract: The oscillating fishing lure is a fishing lure comprising: a body with a longitudinal axis, an uppermost surface, at least one hook, said first hook including a shank and a hook end, said shank being coupled to said body; a blade having an edge proximal to said body, wherein, during retrieval, a majority of said blade is oriented below said uppermost surface of said body; a joining mechanism whereby said blade is moveably coupled to said body, wherein said blade has freedom to move with respect to the roll, pitch and yaw axis only within strict mathematical limits; a line attachment mechanism, through which a fishing line is attached to the lure; and whereby retrieval of the lure causes the blade to oscillate in at least one dimension, and thereby causing the lure to erratically hunt. The oscillating-blade action imparts a natural swimming motion to the lure, emulating prey-species movements.

  • Patent number: 10988069
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure generally pertain to vehicle inventory management systems. In one exemplary embodiment, a bed of rollers includes a first section located in an enclosed cargo area of a delivery vehicle and a second section located in an alcove that is accessible from outside the delivery vehicle. Various items for delivery are placed upon the bed of rollers in the enclosed cargo area. The rollers, which are coupled to servomotors, can be rotated in various directions under control of a computer. The computer activates the rollers for moving items around inside the delivery vehicle. Upon reaching a delivery destination, an item can be moved into the alcove for pickup by a person outside the delivery vehicle. The alcove is configured to allow access to the item by the person outside the delivery vehicle, but prevents access to other items located in the enclosed cargo area.

  • Publication number: 20210113834
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for peripheral nerve stimulation, particularly for treating tremor. The nerve stimulation may be accomplished by a wearable nerve stimulation device, such as a band configured to be worn on the wrist or other body part. The device can accomplish targeted nerve stimulation using circumferentially spaced electrodes. In some embodiments, the device may use only the same number of electrodes as the number of nerves that are to be stimulated. A biphasic charge-balanced waveform may be used to selectively stimulate a nerve near one of the activated electrodes but not to stimulate the nerve near the other activated electrode. The device may use dry electrodes for long-term, repeated use. The dry electrodes may include a conductive base layer and a polymeric, plastic or rubber skin contact layer comprising a conductive filler. The filler may be a powder, fiber, conductive coating, etc.
