  • Publication number: 20210042008
Abstract: Pointing and interaction control devices for large scale tabletop models are provided herein. An example method includes determining a frame of reference for a first display, where the first display provides a multi-dimensional representation. The method includes determining a location and a direction of a laser beam emitted by a mobile device having a laser pointing apparatus using motion signals obtained from the mobile device, and the frame of reference. The first display can include a two-dimensional display surface and a physical three-dimensional representation placed onto the two-dimensional display surface. The method can include determining an intersection of a laser beam of the laser pointing apparatus with either the physical three-dimensional representation or the two-dimensional display surface based on the location and the direction of the mobile device relative to the frame of reference.

  • Publication number: 20200354171
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments described in this disclosure generally pertain to vehicle inventory management systems. In one exemplary embodiment, a bed of rollers includes a first section located in an enclosed cargo area of a delivery vehicle and a second section located in an alcove that is accessible from outside the delivery vehicle. Various items for delivery are placed upon the bed of rollers in the enclosed cargo area. The rollers, which are coupled to servomotors, can be rotated in various directions under control of a computer. The computer activates the rollers for moving items around inside the delivery vehicle. Upon reaching a delivery destination, an item can be moved into the alcove for pickup by a person outside the delivery vehicle. The alcove is configured to allow access to the item by the person outside the delivery vehicle, but prevents access to other items located in the enclosed cargo area.

  • Patent number: 10814130
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for peripheral nerve stimulation, particularly for treating tremor. The nerve stimulation may be accomplished by a wearable nerve stimulation device, such as a band configured to be worn on the wrist or other body part. The device can accomplish targeted nerve stimulation using circumferentially spaced electrodes. In some embodiments, the device may use only the same number of electrodes as the number of nerves that are to be stimulated. A biphasic charge-balanced waveform may be used to selectively stimulate a nerve near one of the activated electrodes but not to stimulate the nerve near the other activated electrode. The device may use dry electrodes for long-term, repeated use. The dry electrodes may include a conductive base layer and a polymeric, plastic or rubber skin contact layer comprising a conductive filler. The filler may be a powder, fiber, conductive coating, etc.

  • Patent number: 10801808
Abstract: A tool. A firearm, a blade and an ancillary device are disposed within or on the tool. The firearm comprises a barrel through which a bullet passes to exit the firearm, a firing pin moveable to a firing position by operation of a firing pin control, a firing pin lock retaining the firing pin in the firing position when in the locked position, a biasing member for applying a force to the firing pin with the firing pin restrained against the force by the locked position of the firing pin lock. A trigger releases the firing pin lock from the locked position, such that the force causes the firing pin to strike the charge proximate the bullet. The bullet then exits the barrel.

  • Publication number: 20200264254
Abstract: The invention relates to an MRI apparatus and a method of MRI involving the acquisition of a first and a second MRI image with mutually different orientations between the BO magnetic field and the object to be investigated. For instance, when imaging structures such as a tendon, due to the magic angle effect, this results in a change in image contrast. According to the invention, a coregistration can be performed between the first and the second MRI image. Moreover, the orientation of a structure within the object can be determined on the basis of the different orientations and the image intensity in the first and the second MRI image. The invention further discloses an apparatus for carrying out the method and a method of shimming the BO magnetic field of the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20190285300
Abstract: A ceiling-mounted sensing unit includes (i) one or more air temperature sensors; (ii) an infrared sensor having a field of view oriented towards a floor of the room; and (iii) a microcontroller receiving readings from both the air temperature sensors and the infrared sensor, the microcontroller providing an estimated temperature at a predetermined distance above the floor of the room based on a model of the room. The model may be based on a double-exponential smoothing function obtained by matching a Kalman filter model. Alternately, the model may be itself a Kalman filter model or a machine learning trained linear model obtained using a linear regression technique, such as L2 regularization. The Kalman filter model uses a state vector that includes both the estimated temperature and a rate of change in the estimated change in temperature. The machine-trained model may be verified using a k-fold cross-validation technique.

  • Patent number: 10120430
Abstract: A system and method for managing operating modes within a semiconductor chip for optimal power and performance while meeting a reliability target are described. A semiconductor chip includes a functional unit and a corresponding reliability monitor. The functional unit provides actual usage values to the reliability monitor. The reliability monitor determines expected usage values based on a reliability target and the age of the semiconductor chip. The reliability monitor compares the actual usage values and the expected usage values. The result of this comparison is used to increase or decrease current operational parameters.
