  • Patent number: 4990430
Abstract: A method of retouching a dye image comprises selective removal with an aqueous acidic organic solvent solution, as described in the application, of a portion of a dye image from an exposed and processed photographic silver halide element comprising a support bearing a dye image from a dye-forming coupler and a primary amine photographic color developing agent, wherein the dye-forming coupler: (a) contains no ionizable group that is retained as part of a dye formed upon oxidative coupling, (b) has a structure such that the Log P of the coupler is greater than 4 and is derived from a four-equivalent coupler that has a Log P less than 8, and (c) has a coupling reactivity that enables formation of maximum image density of at least 0.6. The method comprises the step of contacting the dye image with an aqueous acidic organic solvent solution, as described in the application, for a time and at a temperature sufficient to selectively dissolve and remove a portion of the dye image from the photographic element.

  • Patent number: 4948722
Abstract: Novel pyrazoloazole dye-forming couplers comprising (I) at least one polyether group (A) comprising at least two ether (--O--) groups and (II) having between the group (A) and the pyrazoloazole nucleus a linking group (L) that is capable of increasing the reactivity of the coupler to enable improved dye images in a photographic element and process. These couplers are useful in photographic silver halide elements and processes.

  • Patent number: 4923784
Abstract: Silver halide photographic elements are described containing, as a bleach accelerator precursor, a silver salt of an acid-containing, non-zwitterionic, organic thiol. The bleach accelerators are operable with a multiplicity of bleach compositions and help in reducing sensitizing dye stain.

    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: John W. Harder, Stephen P. Singer
  • Patent number: 4923787
Abstract: A photographic element is described which comprises a compound capable of scavenging oxidized developing agent to prevent stain and fog formation in developed color images.

  • Patent number: 4865956
Abstract: Silver halide photographic elements are described containing, as a bleach accelerator precursor, a silver salt of a solubilized, non-primary amino thiol. The bleach accelerators are operable with a multiplicity of bleach compositions and do not deleteriously affect the sensitometric properties of the photographic element.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Eastman Kodak Company
Inventors: John W. Harder, Stephen P. Singer
  • Patent number: 4684604
Abstract: Photographic elements and processes are described which employ a compound containing a hydrazide moiety attached by a linking group, comprising an acidic group or an active methylene group adjacent to an acidic group, to a heteroatom of a moiety containing a photographically useful group comprising a photographic dye or precursor thereof or a photographic reagent; wherein:(a) the hydrazide moiety is capable of being oxidized to an azo group by an oxidized developing agent,(b) the azo group formation causes the release of the photographically useful group, and(c) the released photographically useful group does not contain the linking group or the nitrogen atoms of the hydrazide moiety.
