  • Publication number: 20060013187
Abstract: Method for establishing wireless networks between devices is disclosed. When a first device is activated to establish a wireless network with other devices, a first activation reference time is recorded. At least one second device that has at least one compatible networking capability is searched for and identified. When the second device is activated to establish wireless network with other devices, a second activation reference time also is recorded. The first and second activation reference times are compared to determine whether they fall into the same time window. The offset between the system time of the first device and that of the second may be factored into the calculation to further enhance the accuracy. If the first and second activation reference times are in the same time window, the authentication of wireless network is established between the devices.

  • Publication number: 20060007648
Abstract: A handheld electronic device (300) mainly comprises a cover (310), a main body (320), a monitor (328) mounted on the main body, a keyboard (318) mounted on the cover and a hinge structure (330) to which pivot portions (312), (322) of the cover and main body are hinged. The pivot portions have teeth (314), (324) on circumferential peripheries thereof. The teeth mesh with each other. The cover can rotate for 360 degrees relative to the main body thereby moving from a first position to a second position, wherein at the first position, the cover abuts against a top surface (326) of the main body, and at the second position, the cover abuts against a bottom surface of the main body. The trajectory of the cover during its rotation relative to the main body follows a predetermined path.

  • Publication number: 20050283356
Abstract: The present invention relates to a data management method between a mass storage device and a data capture/storage device. When the data capture/storage device is connected to the mass storage device, a connection signal is generated. The connection signal initiates the transfer of data files from the data capture/storage device to the mass storage device. Then, a first marker is added to the data files in the data capture/storage device, so the transferred data files can be differentiated from the not-yet transferred.

  • Publication number: 20050238493
Abstract: A process for producing a rotor, the rotor formed thereby, as well as turbines in which such a rotor is installed. The rotor is formed by casting an ingot to have first and second regions formed of different alloys that intermix during casting to define a transition zone therebetween. The ingot is forged to yield a rotor forging that contains axially-aligned first and second alloy regions and a transition zone therebetween. The effects of the transition zone can be mitigated by modeling the transition zone and then off-center machining the forging so that the axis of rotation of the machined monolithic rotor is more centrally located with respect to the transition zone.

  • Publication number: 20050234695
Abstract: A timing-control method of a hardware-simulating program can be applied to a software platform for facilitating control program development. The hardware-simulating program can be recorded in any suitable recording medium and defines therein a plurality of simulating elements executed in a predetermined sequence and automatically synchronized at intervals. A time coordinate is referred to realize a current time point when accumulated execution time of each of the simulating elements is equal to or greater than a threshold. The operations of the simulating elements are suspended when the current time point lags behind the expected time point, and restarted when the current time point advances to conform to the expected time point, thereby achieving the purpose of synchronization.

  • Publication number: 20050190160
Abstract: A keyboard with multifunction keys on a panel of a handheld electronic device is provided. The multifunction keys are set in a transverse, tilted or vertical direction and used for typewriting. Each multifunction key has a linear configuration and comprises three symbols such that depressing a central part of the key inputs a first symbol and depressing one end of the key inputs a second symbol while depressing the other end of the key inputs a third symbol. Therefore, the number of keys as well as the total area occupied by the keys on the handheld electronic device can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050128675
Abstract: Heterolayered thin films having ferroelectric/piezoelectric layers of alternating crystal structures and methods of their preparation are provided. In the ferroelectric/piezoelectric thin film, a first layer has a rhombohedral crystal structure and a second layer adjacent the first layer has a tetragonal crystal structure. The layers have a (100) preferred orientation with ?-axis normal to the surface of the film. The first layer can be a Zr-rich lead ziroconate titanate layer (e.g., PbZr0.8Ti0.2O3) and the second layer can be a Ti-rich PZT layer (e.g., PbZr0.2Ti0.8O3). Heterolayered ferroelectric/piezoelectric thin film comprising a plurality of such first and second layers in alternating sequence exhibits particularly improved electrical properties.

  • Patent number: 6896095
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method to significantly reduce noise associated with air-moving devices such as an axial flow fan using a fan shroud and barrel combination with built in silencers such as Helmholtz resonators. The invention can be applied to a variety of applications such as a thermal management system for a fuel cell powered vehicle. The resonator can be a hollow cavity in networks attached to an outer or inner barrel or shroud and tuned to reduce noise at predetermined noise frequency ranges within the airflow. The invention can also attach stator members on the inner surface of the outer barrel to further reduce noise. Additional sound absorbing material, such as steel wool, can be disposed within the resonator cavity.

  • Publication number: 20050037924
Abstract: A process is provided for preparing a downstream processable sodium glyphosate paste. The process includes mixing in a reactor particulate glyphosate acid, sodium hydroxide, water, and optionally one or more adjuvant(s). The reaction of glyphosate acid with sodium hydroxide causes the generation of heat resulting in the partial evaporation of the water such that a sodium glyphosate paste is formed having a moisture content of about 0.1% to about 20% by weight. The sodium glyphosate paste may then be further processed to form a dry granular herbicidal composition.

  • Publication number: 20050015629
Abstract: A portable non-volatile memory device includes a housing, a data access connector, a non-volatile memory, a password-entering interface and a password-verifying device. The data access connector is mounted to the housing and attachable to and detachable from a digital data processor. The non-volatile memory is disposed in the housing and selectively accessible by the digital data processor when the data access connector is attached to the digital data processor. The password-entering interface is disposed in the housing and has a portion exposed from the housing for allowing a user to enter a password. • Publication number: 20050008070
Abstract: A method for performing adaptive equalization is presented comprising receiving a Forward Error Correction (FEC) encoded signal from a channel, filtering the received FEC encoded signal using a filter according to at least one adjustable filter coefficient to produce a filtered signal, evaluating the filtered signal to generate a signal error output, adjusting the at least one adjustable filter coefficient in response to the signal error output, performing FEC decode processing dependent on the filtered signal to generate an FEC output, and adjusting the at least one adjustable filter coefficient in response to the FEC output. In one embodiment, the signal error output relates to Mean Squared Error (MSE), and the FEC output relates to bit error rate. The at least one adjustable filter coefficient may be first adjusted in response to the signal error output until a specified condition is met, then adjusted in response to the FEC output.
