  • Publication number: 20070121835
Abstract: A method for arbitrating audio signal output used in a portable electronic device, which comprises a speaker and two independent voice communication systems. When one voice communication system needs to send out a ringing signal, the voice communication system first detects the status of the other voice communication system. If the other voice communication system is idle, the ringing signal is sent out via the speaker; if the other voice communication system is in use, the ringing signal is not sent out, and an optional prompting signal is sent out via a receiver.

  • Publication number: 20060294192
Abstract: Access control systems and methods regulate access to shared content items in a corpus using visibility tokens. A user provides other users with access to a content item by associating a content token with the content item and associating a matching user token with each user who is to be granted access. A user who attempts to access the content item succeeds only if that user has a user token matching the content token associated with the content item. User tokens can be propagated automatically from one user to another, e.g., based on trust relationships among the users. Content tokens can be indexed with content items so that when a user searches the corpus, a search engine can detect matches between user tokens and content tokens and filter the search results based on whether they are visible to the querying user.

  • Publication number: 20060146926
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems are presented for performing adaptive equalization involving receiving a signal originating from a channel associated with inter-symbol interference, filtering the signal using a filter having a plurality of adjustable tap weights to produce a filtered signal, and adaptively updating each of the plurality of adjustable tap weights to a new value to reduce effects of inter-symbol interference, wherein each of the plurality of adjustable tap weights is adaptively updated to take into account a constraint relating to a measure of error in the filtered signal and a constraint relating to group delay associated with the filter. Each of the plurality of adjustable tap weights may be adaptively updated to drive group delay associated with the filter toward a target group delay.

The dual-purpose key has different input definitions in a letter mode and a number mode, and the non-numerical-purpose key does not have a numerical input definition. First, at least one keystrokes are received, and an input sequence corresponding to the keystrokes is generated. If any one of the keystrokes corresponds to one of the non-numerical-purpose keys, at least one address record conforming to a letter input definition of the input sequence in the letter mode is retrieved from an address book for dialing accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20060097550
Abstract: A self-adjustable anti-chucking device for a vehicle liftgate includes a wedge portion that is attachable to the liftgate and a base portion that is attachable to a vehicle body. The wedge portion includes a wedge-shaped slider block that is biased by a resilient member. The base portion includes an oblique surface shaped to contact a surface of the slider block. When the liftgate is closed and latched, the friction between the slider block and the oblique surface and the biasing force of the resilient member securely hold the liftgate in place. If the liftgate shifts position, the biasing force of the resilient member will cause the slider block to shift to compensate for any change in the liftgate position relative to the vehicle body.
