  • Publication number: 20090143699
Abstract: A spongy swab is mounted against the distal face of a piston at the end of a push rod. Once humected with a sample fluid, the swab and piston assembly is inserted into a tubular body like the plunger of a syringe. As the swab is pushed and squeezed against the distal end of the body up to a trippable stop, part of the fluid is excreted into a chromatographic immunoassay testing device through a first aperture in a distal section of the body. The remainder of the sample is kept in a sealed chamber between the piston and the end wall of the tubular body until it is excreted through a second aperture for a secondary test by pushing the piston beyond the trippable stop. That preserves the sample within the spongy swab that has been used to collect it; thus preventing the adsorption of the analytes on the surface of a reservoir, and to provide a convenient and rapid way to extract the remainder of the specimen.

  • Publication number: 20090109528
Abstract: A rifle scope has a front end receiving light and a rear end passing light to the user eye. The rifle scope has an elevation adjustment; an inside body is hollow and tubular and fitting inside a middle body which is also hollow and tubular shaped and a top angle focus adjustment mounted on the inside body in front of the elevation windage. The top angle focus adjustment has a top angle focus knob, a focus shaft mounted to the focus knob, and a top angle gear mounted to the focus shaft. The top angle focus knob and the focus shaft and the top angle gear are fixed so that they rotate together on an axis of the focus shaft. • Patent number: 7523198
Abstract: The invention is directed to techniques for monitoring and testing publish/subscribe network systems. For example, an enterprise network that has a number of geographically dispersed network devices and interconnected sub-networks may be configured to operate as a publish/subscribe network system in which each of the dispersed network devices sends and receives messages for specific groups of the network devices. The techniques described herein enable data object capture and analysis in the application layer of a publish/subscribe network system using shim adapters. The techniques also enable network packet capture and analysis in the network layer of a publish/subscribe network system. Furthermore, the techniques include integrated analysis of testing results from the application layer and the network layer to determine performance characteristics, such as latency, across both of the layers.

  • Patent number: 7483898
Abstract: A network is audited by running task programs and evaluating the results of the task programs. Task programs are tools that are configured to retrieve information about a particular network device. A service is arranged to coordinate the scheduling, execution, and data collection and aggregation of each task program over disparate networks such as multiple domains. Each task program executes at a scheduled time and provides results to a parser. The parser formats the results and provides the formatted data to the service. The service stores the collected data in a database. A client can schedule and/or review the results of audits by communicating with the service. The collected data can be compared and filtered according to rule-based templates that define acceptable network device configurations. Reports can be generated based on the templates such that a client can evaluate results from task programs executed over the entire network.

  • Patent number: 7379908
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of populating row and column cells of an electronic financial statement document containing with formulas and data, and related apparatus. A formula for a cell in a financial statement is generated from a row definition for the row and a column definition for the column of the cell, where the row definition defines a term of the statement and the column definition specifies a period of time. The resulting statement is displayed to a user, and new formula expressions can be generated to reflect changes in the statement. The statement can have three kinds of columns, namely base columns, subtotal columns, and grand total columns. Data in columns of an input database corresponds to a database period of time, and the base columns in the statement have statement period unit. For each base column of the statement, a correspondence to more than one column of the input database can be computed dynamically.

  • Publication number: 20080056941
Abstract: A fluid specimen testing device having a removable lid which carries at least one testing strip behind a transparent top viewing window. Testing is initiated by tilting the device into a stable sideways orientation to allow the specimen to contact the sampling pad portion of the strip. The device is adapted to provide stability in the upright, tilted and inverted orientations. A roll-inhibiting feature also acts as an indicator for proper roll positioning in the tilted configuration. The strips are also oriented in the lid so that they are substantially vertical when the device is in the tilted position thereby enhancing a condition for proper capillarity. The strip is carried close to the upper surface which allows it to be copied on a flat glass copier providing for more objective recordation of the test results.

  • Publication number: 20080008125
Abstract: Methods, systems, devices and computer programs for configuring nodes on a wireless network can include generating a security key for the network, setting the security settings on the access point based on the security key, and saving the security key in a profile data file on a removable memory device along with a portable configuration utility for using the profile data file for configuring other nodes on the network. The removable memory device can then be inserted into other nodes and the portable configuration utility can be run to match the same key on the other network nodes based on the information stored in the profile data file on the removable memory device.

  • Publication number: 20070258101
Abstract: A method and system reconstructs a contone image from a binary image by first tagging pixels to identify one of a multiplicity of image content types. The tag information and the pattern of bits surrounding the pixel to be converted to a contone value are used to reconstruct a contone image from a binary image. The pattern of bits in the neighborhood is used to generate a unique identifier. The unique identifier is used as the address for a lookup table with the contone value to be used wherein each lookup table corresponds to an image context type.

  • Publication number: 20070139446
Abstract: A system and method are provided by which a user, at a client workstation, can efficiently, simply and effectively manipulate, and specifically crop, a high resolution image that has been scanned and/or otherwise stored in a server with which the client worksation is in web-based communication. The disclosed system and method reduce and/or eliminate the need to transfer a file containing a full high resolution image from the server to the client workstation across a web-based data transfer network. A cropping request may be generated by a user via a client workstation and only that request may be transferred to, and implemented through, the server, eliminating significant data transfer requirements regarding the transfer of the extremely large files associated with high resolution images required of conventional cropping methods. An addition advantage is reduction and/or elimination of a need for sophisticated image display and processing software to reside within each client workstation.

  • Publication number: 20060143438
Abstract: A system and method for provisioning wireless devices such that they are only capable of accessing network services when in a specified location. A device surveys the current location of the device for existing base stations and stores a corresponding network environment profile. After the profile is stored, network services will only be provided to the device if the current network profile matches the stored profile.

  • Publication number: 20060046219
Abstract: A piezoelectric lighter includes a lighter casing, an ignition nozzle, a gas releasing valve, a piezoelectric unit, and a hidden push button arrangement. The hidden push button arrangement includes a push button which has a pusher end portion, a pivot end portion pivotally mounted at the lighter casing at the button receiving slot thereof, and a button surface extended from the pusher end portion and the pivot end portion, adapted to pivotally fold between an operation position and a hidden position. At the hidden position, the pusher end portion of the push button is folded into the button receiving slot to align the button surface of the push button with the outer surface of the lighter casing so as to completely hide the push button in the button receiving slot within the lighter casing.

  • Publication number: 20040258046
Abstract: A two-way wireless communication system comprises a central authority in communication with a plurality of client devices via both a circuit switched data communication system and a packet switched data communication system. The packet switched communication system can assign packet switched network addresses to the client devices dynamically. Therefore, the central authority can be configured to send a circuit switched message, through the circuit switched data network, to a client device requesting the client device to register with the central authority through the packet switched data network.
