  • Publication number: 20070109777
Abstract: A lamp heat extractor device for lowering the cold spot temperature of a fluorescent lamp includes a base portion adapted to be attached to a heat conductive portion of the fluorescent lighting fixture proximate the fixture's lamp socket or sockets, and an extended sleeve end portion thermally connected to the base portion by a conductive connector portion. The conductive connector portion positions the extended sleeve portion so that it contacts the cold spot end of the fluorescent lamp or lamps held by the lamp sockets of the fixture to allow heat transfer to the fixture housing to which the heat extractor device is attached. Suitably, the outer surface of the extended sleeve end portion of the heat extractor device can have a plurality of radially extending fins for increasing surface area for heat radiation from the extended sleeve portion, thereby increasing the overall heat extracting efficiency of the device.

  • Publication number: 20070109575
Abstract: A printer driver enables a user to determine whether the features that are required to print a specified job are available to a selected network printer. The printer driver queries the selected printer to acquire the current status and other relevant information for each feature that is required to print the job, then provides the results of the query at a user interface. Accordingly, if any of the required features are unavailable to the selected printer, the user can print the job using another printer or take some other appropriate action.

  • Publication number: 20070015720
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for treating type 2 diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome and conditions associated with these by administering an AICAR-monophosphate (AICAR-MP) enhancing agent that increases endogenous AICAR-MP levels in a cell. Inhibition of AICAR-formyltransferase activity (AICARFT) in a cell that regulates metabolic activity (such as fat, liver, muscle, pancreatic beta or certain brain cells) increases AICAR-monophosphate levels which in turn results in activation of the AMP-kinase (AMPK) pathway, and all of the downstream functions mediated by AMPK including increased fatty acid oxidation, enhanced glucose transport and decreased fatty acid synthesis.
