  • Patent number: 4928195
Abstract: A flying magnetic head designed for use in a magnetic disk apparatus and equipped with a reading/writing element attached to an air discharge end of a slider having a flying plane on its one surface opposed to a magnetic recording medium. The slider is so formed as to have specified outer dimensions including a thickness of 0.65 mm or less from the flying plane to the opposite surface on the reverse side, a length of 1 to 3 mm in the direction of air discharge, and a width of 1 to 2.5 mm in the direction orthogonal to the air discharge. Accordingly, even with a small flying height under 0.1 .mu.m, high stability is attained in the flying characteristic with sufficient durability, and a compact structure is achievable at low production cost.

  • Patent number: 4908727
Abstract: A vertical recording system using a rigid disk medium with high recording density has a substrate made of alumina silicate resin glass and a vertical magnetic anisotropic film located on said substrate. Said anisotropic film has an easy axis of magnetization in the thickness direction of the film, and the hard axis of magnetization in the film plane. The maximum surface roughness R.sub.max of said disk is less than 50 .ANG., and a magnetic recording head which moves relative to the medium operates with said head contacted with the medium. A recording density higher than 200 KFRPI (kilo flux reversal per inch) is obtained by the present invention.

  • Patent number: 4901175
Abstract: In a magnetic disk supporting device of a type that the longitudinal direction of the supporting device extends in the tangential direction of the tracks of a magnetic disk, the direction of float rails on the slider of the magnetic head is the same as the longitudinal direction of the supporting device, and the slider is fixed to the lower surface of a central tongue portion constituting a part of the supporting device at a position that the front end of the slider does not overlap with a lateral frame as a part of the supporting device, whereby stable operation of the magnetic head can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 4893203
Abstract: A magnetic head comprises a slider having a flying plane on its one surface opposed to a magnetic recording medium, a reading/writing element attached to the end surface at the air discharge side of the slider and a protective layer formed on the end surface so as to cover the reading/writing element, wherein an edge of the protective layer is inside an edge of the end surface at at least the upper surface which is opposite the flying plane, so that there is formed a space between the edge of the end surface and the edge of the protective layer.

  • Patent number: 4564877
Abstract: A magnetic recording method for recording a digital signal in the form of a two dimensional plane on a magnetic recording medium like a magnetic tape, a magnetic disc etc. Magnetic flux is generated according to a shape of the surface of the magnetic recording head facing the recording medium. Thus, digital information is recorded on the recording medium in the form of two dimensional information according to the shape of the surface of the magnetic head.A magnetic recording medium on which two dimensional information has been recorded by the above recording method, and a reproducing method for reproducing the recorded information on said magnetic recording medium are also disclosed.
