    Abstract: A method for providing metadata to a search engine for a document that is not in a mark-up language includes sending a request for data about the document and receiving a response to the request that has a Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP or HTTPS) header that includes metadata associated with the document in a name-value pair and the document's content. The method also includes extracting the name-value pair from the HTTP-header and creating a mark-up language tag for the name-value pair and providing the make-up language tag and the contents of the document in a mark-up language format to a search index creation component.

    Abstract: Various embodiments of methods and systems for estimating environmental ambient temperature of a portable computing device (“PCD”) from electrical resistance measurements taken voice coils in a speaker or microphone component are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, it may be recognized that the PCD is in an idle state, thus producing little or no thermal energy. Electrical resistance measurements are taken from a voice coil and used to estimate the environmental ambient temperature to which the PCD is exposed. Certain embodiments may simply render the estimated ambient temperature for the benefit of the user or use the estimated ambient temperature as an input to a program or application running on the PCD. It is envisioned that certain embodiments of the systems and methods may use the estimated ambient temperature to adjust temperature thresholds in the PCD against which thermal management policies govern thermally aggressive processing components.

The system may respond to a crawl request from the search engine for a particular URL by converting the URL back into a file identifier, obtaining the contents of the file, creating an HTTP response from the contents of the file, and returning the response to the search engine.     Abstract: A flexible nasal protection strip for use by cold and allergy suffers who, as part of their condition, must continually blow their nose with tissues. The protection strip consists of a die-cut strip of medical grade clear, colored or imprinted plastic with adhesive on one side that is temporarily protected by a peelable film. The protection strip is flexible enough to conform to the nose but not interfere with breathing. The unique design protects the exterior sidewalls and tip of the nose from the habitual abrasion caused by excessive tissue rubbing. The protection strip could also be impregnated with a variety of compounds including: compressed iron oxides and salts to produce chemically-based heat protecting the nose from damage in extreme cold and chemicals or metals offering ultraviolet radiation protection.

    Abstract: A simplified data link protocol which may be implemented in a very high-speed transmission system, e.g., SONET, processes a datagram received from an IP facility according to QoS considerations and scrambles a datagram before it is again scrambled by a transmission system, e.g., a SONET transmitter, to ensure that the pattern of a user's data does not match the transmission scrambling pattern. The data link protocol scrambler also employs a novel synchronization scheme. We also use a pointer system which identifies the location of a datagram in a frame to eliminate flags and the need to process user data to ensure that it does not contain and a boundary flag.
