Patent number: 9582588Abstract: A method for providing metadata to a search engine for a document that is not in a mark-up language includes sending a request for data about the document and receiving a response to the request that has a Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP or HTTPS) header that includes metadata associated with the document in a name-value pair and the document's content. The method also includes extracting the name-value pair from the HTTP-header and creating a mark-up language tag for the name-value pair and providing the make-up language tag and the contents of the document in a mark-up language format to a search index creation component.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2012Date of Patent: February 28, 2017Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Pawel Opalinski, Eric Jon Anderson, John Felton, Brandon Player Iles

Patent number: 9341520Abstract: Various embodiments of methods and systems for estimating environmental ambient temperature of a portable computing device (“PCD”) from electrical resistance measurements taken voice coils in a speaker or microphone component are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, it may be recognized that the PCD is in an idle state, thus producing little or no thermal energy. Electrical resistance measurements are taken from a voice coil and used to estimate the environmental ambient temperature to which the PCD is exposed. Certain embodiments may simply render the estimated ambient temperature for the benefit of the user or use the estimated ambient temperature as an input to a program or application running on the PCD. It is envisioned that certain embodiments of the systems and methods may use the estimated ambient temperature to adjust temperature thresholds in the PCD against which thermal management policies govern thermally aggressive processing components.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2013Date of Patent: May 17, 2016Assignee: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Unnikrishnan Vadakkanmaruveedu, Zenghui Zhao, Vinay Mitter, Roy Silverstein, Ankur Jain, Jon Anderson

Publication number: 20160063414Abstract: A method includes receiving input corresponding to a proposed configuration of a methanol production facility and identifying a plurality of components utilized to produce methanol at the facility. The method includes determining an alternative configuration that is different from the proposed configuration. Determining the alternative configuration may include identifying resources accessible to a proposed location for the methanol production facility and whether at least one of the resources accessible to the proposed location corresponds to a resource generated by a component identified by the proposed configuration, and determining whether to omit at least one component of the plurality of components identified by the proposed configuration. The method includes omitting the at least one component from the alternative configuration, and generating a report based on the proposed configuration and the alternative configuration.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2014Publication date: March 3, 2016Inventors: Alain GUILLARD, Alexander ROESCH, Erik Jon ANDERSON, Siva ARIYAPADI, Francois FUENTES, Veronika GRONEMANN, Paul Manfred KRIMLOWSKI, Jakob Balthasar PERLWITZ, Krishna Anand PUNWASI, Bharatkumar SONI, Etienne Jean STURM

Patent number: 8972375Abstract: A system for searching files stored in a closed file source that is not accessible via a web crawler obtains file identifiers for files stored in the file source and creates a unique URL for each of the identifiers. Each URL may be based on a file identifier and a domain portion of a URL associated with the system. The system may provide the unique URLs to a search engine. The system may respond to a crawl request from the search engine for a particular URL by converting the URL back into a file identifier, obtaining the contents of the file, creating an HTTP response from the contents of the file, and returning the response to the search engine. The system may respond to a request for a seed URL with a plurality of URLs as links in a single HTTP response.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2012Date of Patent: March 3, 2015Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Pawel Opalinski, Brandon Player Iles, Eric Jon Anderson, John Felton

Publication number: 20150031326Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for a mobile device to execute user experience software that dynamically determines operating policies that are suited for managing resources, such as transceivers, processors, and other units within the mobile device. In an aspect, a processor executing the user experience software may monitor for activity information that indicates a user's interactions with the mobile device. Based on the activity information, a processor executing the user experience software may match a circumstance defined by the activity information with a stored activity profile. The activity profile may include information indicating aggregated resource usage associated with the matched circumstance. A processor executing the user experience software may implement an operating policy based on the activity profile that manages how the mobile device utilizes resources.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2013Publication date: January 29, 2015Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Henri BEGIN, Jeffrey NIEMANN, Jon ANDERSON, Richard STEWART, Francis NGAI

Publication number: 20130019878Abstract: A flexible nasal protection strip for use by cold and allergy suffers who, as part of their condition, must continually blow their nose with tissues. The protection strip consists of a die-cut strip of medical grade clear, colored or imprinted plastic with adhesive on one side that is temporarily protected by a peelable film. The protection strip is flexible enough to conform to the nose but not interfere with breathing. The unique design protects the exterior sidewalls and tip of the nose from the habitual abrasion caused by excessive tissue rubbing. The protection strip could also be impregnated with a variety of compounds including: compressed iron oxides and salts to produce chemically-based heat protecting the nose from damage in extreme cold and chemicals or metals offering ultraviolet radiation protection.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2011Publication date: January 24, 2013Inventor: D. Patent number: RE40923Abstract: A simplified data link protocol which may be implemented in a very high-speed transmission system, e.g., SONET, processes a datagram received from an IP facility according to QoS considerations and scrambles a datagram before it is again scrambled by a transmission system, e.g., a SONET transmitter, to ensure that the pattern of a user's data does not match the transmission scrambling pattern. The data link protocol scrambler also employs a novel synchronization scheme. We also use a pointer system which identifies the location of a datagram in a frame to eliminate flags and the need to process user data to ensure that it does not contain and a boundary flag.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2003Date of Patent: September 29, 2009Assignee: Agere Systems Inc.Inventors: Jon Anderson, Bharat Tarachand Doshi, Subrahmanyam Dravida, Enrique Hernandez-Valencia, Murali Krishnaswamy, James S.
