  • Patent number: 10598371
Abstract: The modular enclosure with water management mating interfaces most fundamentally includes a mechanical connection which directs and obstructs water via various strategically positioned structures and gaps. One basic configuration includes a base having at least one end face and a periphery extending from the end face. The periphery includes an outward projecting lip. A plurality of retainers is secured to the base below the lip. The retainers and the lip define a channel extending along at least part of each side of the base. A dome having longitudinal sides that terminate in a bottom edge and an inward projecting flange that is spaced from the bottom edge is received by the flange in the channel to retain the dome to the base.

  • Patent number: 10457198
Abstract: According to aspects of the disclosure, the system comprises a frame mounted in sealed relation to a surface. The frame includes movable engagement features and surfaces that mate with an accessory body. A gasket positioned between the frame and a mounting surface seals the space between the frame and the mounting surface from surrounding external elements. The frame may be fastened to the mounting surface with tool-free rivet fasteners, or more conventional threaded fasteners. The assembled accessory body and bezel fit over the frame and the movable engagement features of the frame mate with complementary structures on the accessory body to fix the accessory body to the frame. Openings in the accessory body allow a threaded fastener to secure the movable engagement feature of the frame in the mated position, preventing unintentional disengagement of the accessory body.

  • Publication number: 20180264997
Abstract: A pin is inserted longitudinally into attachment openings of attachment flanges extending rearwardly from an optical element. The flanges extend through a back panel such that the openings are positioned rear of the back panel. When inserted into the openings, each pin flexes inwardly as a leading and trailing guide ramp and a first and second apex pass through the openings. The leading and trailing guide ramps and the first and second apexes then flex outwardly as the first apex transitions to a first seat and/or the second apex transitions to a second seat. There is an outward force of expansion in the frontward to rearward direction when the flanges are positioned on the first and second seats. In this manner, each pin securely attaches the optical element to the back panel.

  • Patent number: 8944654
Abstract: A warning light has a light transmissive dome, longitudinally extending base, plurality of clamps, and a plurality of warning light assemblies. The light transmissive dome has sidewalls which terminate in a bottom edge. Spaced apart attachment regions with a staging area, a locking area, and a first retaining lip are located along the bottom edge. The longitudinally extending base has sidewalls which terminate in a top edge. A second retaining lip extends downward from an exterior projection of the top edge. A plurality of clamps each have a face portion, and first and second engagement jaws which extend from the face portion. The first and second engagement jaws are configured to engage the first and second retaining lips. A fastener portion located on the face portion corresponds with a fastener. The fastener portion and fastener draw the first and second engagement jaws together.

  • Patent number: 8833993
Abstract: A warning light assembly includes a frame with integral fastener anchors. The frame aligns and supports the anchors with openings in a vehicle body or other support surface. Fasteners pass through a warning light housing to spread retention legs behind the support surface. The anchors are connected by the frame and cannot rotate relative to the vehicle body or warning light. The frame defines a central opening for warning lights requiring additional depth.

  • Patent number: 7854531
Abstract: The disclosed bridge seal includes a substantially rigid bridge component and flexible gutter seal arranged to span the openings between adjacent housing modules of a modular warning light assembly such as a lightbar. The bridge seal physically connects the adjacent ends of base and dome components to each other and defines a fluid flow channel to guide water away from the area between housing modules. The disclosed bridge seal integrates discrete housing modules into a connected weather resistant enclosure having a longitudinal path for control and power distribution conductors extending the length of the lightbar.

  • Publication number: 20100110708
Abstract: A warning light adapted for mounting to an overhead rack of a vehicle has a housing which through one end forms a throat configured to receive an end of a tubular rack member. The housing includes a pair of shell members which cooperate to define the throat and openings for the first, second and third light units. The throat has a geometry which is generally complementary to the geometry of the profile of the tubular member. The shell members are configured to capture the light units for proper positioning. An upper portion of the housing allows access to an upper track of the tubular rack member. The light units are arranged to produce an illumination pattern visible from the front, side and rear of the vehicle. Preferably the first, second and third light units are substantially identical units which employ LEDs.
