  • Patent number: 10129694
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for managing which location-based service zones to monitor when the number location-based service zones within a geographic region exceed the amount the device can support. An active zone defining a geographic region and location-based service zones within the geographic region is provided by another computing device. When the number of location-based service zones meets or exceeds a predefined threshold, a subset of the location-based service zones is selected for monitoring according to a current device location and/or other parameters.

  • Patent number: 10104605
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for managing location-based service zones. Specifically, a dynamically sized geographic region surrounding a client device location can be created. Location-based service zones within the geographic region can be selected. If the amount of location-based service zones identified within the geographic region exceed a client-supported limit, a subset of location-based service zones are selected and sent to the client device for monitoring.

  • Patent number: 9973892
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for a multi-provider management system for location-based service zones. The multi-provider management system can receive data associated with location-based service zones from multiple providers. A unique identifier can be assigned to each provider. The multi-provider management system can send location-based service zones from multiple providers to a client device, and can receive trigger event notifications associated with the location-based service zones. The unique identifier can be used to identify which provider to notify when receiving a trigger event notification.

  • Patent number: 9870713
Abstract: Detection and prevention of unauthorized exchange of information between users of user devices is disclosed. Monitoring data associated with respective information received by the user devices from respective users may be received. Position information indicating proximity or relative positions of the devices may also be received. The monitoring data and/or the position information may be analyzed to determining whether unauthorized information exchange between users may be occurring. One or more metrics indicating a likelihood that unauthorized information exchange is occurring may be generated based on the analysis of the monitoring data and/or the position information. A generated metric may be compared to an associated threshold and preventive measures for deterring unauthorized information exchange may be identified based on a result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 9575960
Abstract: One or more words at a specified location in an electronic document can be identified. The identified one or more words can be analyzed to determine one or more semantic meanings associated with the words. An audio clip (i.e., audio file, audio element) associated with or corresponding to (the semantic meaning(s) of) the one or more words can be searched for in an audio database. The search for the audio clip associated with the one or more words can utilize an index that specifies the associations between words and audio clips. In some embodiments, the audio clip can be played when an estimated location of where the user is reading is at or near the specified location of the one or more words. In some embodiments, the audio clip can be played when it is calculated that the user is reading the one or more words at the specified location.

  • Patent number: 9571554
Abstract: Described are methods and systems of providing directed interaction from one or more presenter devices to one or more participant devices. Directed interaction allows one or more presenters to change application state, device settings, or both on the participant devices. Within the constraints imposed by the presenter device, the participant devices may be able to change content presentation, position, and so forth. The participant devices may also generate participant status data, which may be provided to the presenter devices.

  • Patent number: 9508078
Abstract: Techniques for increasing the efficacy of an affiliate marketing program are described herein. These techniques may allow participants of the affiliate marketing program to easily create links to content that a content site offers. To do so, the content site may determine whether a user that requests content from the site is a participant of the program or a non-participant. Based at least in part on determining that the requesting user is a participant, the content site may serve the requested content in addition to a mechanism for creating links to the content. Furthermore, the mechanism may also illustrate or otherwise include content that is customized based on the content that the participant requests and/or based on an identity of the participant.

  • Patent number: 9021069
Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for managing access to a fleet account of mobile electronic devices. For instance, an administrator of a business and educational institution may place an order with an offering service to purchase a large number of eBook reader devices. The offering service identifies that the business and educational institution is ordering a fleet of devices. Furthermore, each of the devices ordered are associated or registered to a managed or fleet account controlled by the administrator of the business and educational institution. The techniques described herein prevent an individual user of a fleet device from de-registering the device from the managed account, and also allow an account administrator to alter preferred settings of the managed account. Further, techniques are described for allowing a user of a device to opt-in or associate their device with the account.
