  • Patent number: 9508078
Abstract: Techniques for increasing the efficacy of an affiliate marketing program are described herein. These techniques may allow participants of the affiliate marketing program to easily create links to content that a content site offers. To do so, the content site may determine whether a user that requests content from the site is a participant of the program or a non-participant. Based at least in part on determining that the requesting user is a participant, the content site may serve the requested content in addition to a mechanism for creating links to the content. Furthermore, the mechanism may also illustrate or otherwise include content that is customized based on the content that the participant requests and/or based on an identity of the participant.

  • Publication number: 20160261945
Abstract: The flexible earphone cover has a flexible main body and a flexible ear cone that extends from the main body. The flexible main body is configured to substantially encase a portion of an earphone. The flexible main body defines an internal cavity for receiving the earphone. It also defines a first opening at a side of the cavity for receiving the earphone there-through. The flexible main body defines a second opening at a side of the cavity. The second opening is smaller than the first opening. Finally, the flexible main body defines a third opening at a side of the cavity. The third opening is smaller than the first opening and the second opening. The flexible ear cone defines a converging passageway from the second opening to an exit configured to direct sound into an ear canal of an ear of a user.

  • Publication number: 20160241432
Abstract: A system comprises a first node, which comprises a first controller. The first controller is operable to access a set of files that are stored within a drive of the first node and configure the first node based on the set of files. The first controller is further configured to receive, from a second controller, a first message requesting access to the drive comprising the set of files. The second controller may be within a second node, which is different than the first node. In response to receiving the first message, the first controller transmits a second message to the second controller allowing the second controller to access the drive in the first node comprising the set of files by emulating the partition to configure the second node. The first controller is further configured to transfer the set of files to the second controller after transmitting the second message.

  • Publication number: 20160202750
Abstract: Controlling background activity in a computing device or system during a low-power mode is described. In some example techniques, when a computing device or system is in a low power mode, a determination is made whether to block one or more trigger events from causing an activation of one or more respective background task operations. Based at least in part on the determination, at least one trigger event may be allowed to cause an activation of a respective background task operation during the low power mode.

  • Publication number: 20160018407
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of endogenous metabolites to produce a metabolic profile of a disorder or disease in a subject, e.g. an autoimmune disease, in particular rheumatoid arthritis, and the analysis of such metabolic profiles in order to find disturbances in such profiles in a subject which are caused by or correlated with the said diseases or disorders. Such disturbances can be normalised by treatment of the subject with specified compounds, particularly N-(2-chloro-3,4-dimethoxybenzylideneamino) guanidine or an aminoguanidine.

  • Patent number: 9229731
Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing problems and disadvantages associated with multiple boot methods are disclosed. In accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure, an information handling system comprises a processor and a memory communicatively coupled to the processor. The information handling system also comprises an access controller communicatively coupled to the processor. The access controller is configured to retrieve non-bootable executable instructions and combine the non-bootable executable instructions with a boot loader associated with a boot method to generate a bootable image associated with the boot method. The access controller is further configured to present the bootable image to the information handling system such that the bootable image is configured to be booted by the information handling system using the boot method.

  • Publication number: 20150291098
Abstract: In a convertible mirror assembly for a vehicle visor, a flexible mirror is operably coupled to a housing and is operable between first and second display states. A slider mechanism is slidably supported on the housing and operably coupled to the flexible mirror. The slider mechanism is adapted to move along the housing between retracted and extended positions, whereby the flexible mirror is in the first display state when the slider mechanism is in the retracted position, and in the second display state when the slider mechanism is in the extended position. When moved to the extended position, the slider mechanism urges the flexible mirror to an outwardly curved or convex configuration to define a conversation mirror configuration.

  • Patent number: 9160605
Abstract: A computing device generates a group of user devices. The computing device receives data associated with a media item from a first user device in the group. Responsive to determining that the first user device has data sharing privileges, the computing device transmits the data to one or more other user devices in the group.

  • Publication number: 20150215408
Abstract: A network switch includes a service registration database and a service discovery engine that is coupled to the service registration database. The service discovery engine receives a first service registration over a network from a first service included on a first service device and, in response, stores the first service registration in the service registration database. The service discovery engine then receives a multicast service discovery message over the network from a target device. The service discovery message includes a service identification. The service discovery engine then determines that the service identification is associated with the first service registration stored in the service registration database and, in response, sends a unicast service communication message over the network to the target device. The service communication message includes communication information for the first service.

  • Patent number: 9063081
Abstract: A system and method employing at least one semiconductor device, or an arrangement of insulating and metal layers, having at least one detecting region which can include, for example, a recess or opening therein, for detecting a charge representative of a component of a polymer, such as a nucleic acid strand proximate to the detecting region, and a method for manufacturing such a semiconductor device. The system and method can thus be used for sequencing individual nucleotides or bases of ribonucleic acid (RNA) or deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). The semiconductor device includes at least two doped regions, such as two n-typed regions implanted in a p-typed semiconductor layer or two p-typed regions implanted in an n-typed semiconductor layer. The detecting region permits a current to pass between the two doped regions in response to the presence of the component of the polymer, such as a base of a DNA or RNA strand.

  • Patent number: 9021069
Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for managing access to a fleet account of mobile electronic devices. For instance, an administrator of a business and educational institution may place an order with an offering service to purchase a large number of eBook reader devices. The offering service identifies that the business and educational institution is ordering a fleet of devices. Furthermore, each of the devices ordered are associated or registered to a managed or fleet account controlled by the administrator of the business and educational institution. The techniques described herein prevent an individual user of a fleet device from de-registering the device from the managed account, and also allow an account administrator to alter preferred settings of the managed account. Further, techniques are described for allowing a user of a device to opt-in or associate their device with the account.
