  • Patent number: 10520403
Abstract: A slide processing apparatus controls the temperature and orientation of a microscope slide carrying one or more specimens. The apparatus heats the specimen-bearing microscope slide while the slide is oriented to both facilitate adhesion between the specimens and the slide and control movement of the specimens relative to the microscope slide. A slide dryer of the apparatus conductively heats the specimens using a conductive slide heater that physically engages the microscope slide.

  • Patent number: 10492796
Abstract: A tourniquet having a first elongated member with a buckle on one end, and a second elongated member attached at both ends to the end of the first elongated member but leaving an intermediate portion of the second elongated member otherwise slidable with respect to the first elongated member. A windlass is used to twist the intermediate portion to apply tension to the first longitudinal member. Twisting the windlass produces a lineal component to the force and a torsional component. The buckle includes a first lateral side, a second lateral side and an intermediate bar between and spaced apart from them. The buckle also includes an anti-torsional plate that resists the torsional force. The buckle also has “teeth” the resist movement of the first longitudinal member from the buckle.

  • Patent number: 10481296
Abstract: An example method of calibrating a downhole tool includes stimulating a known current through a power circuit provided in the downhole tool, the power circuit extending between and communicably coupling a power source and a load. A conductor magnetic field is generated as the known current flows through the power circuit and the conductor magnetic field is detectable by a magnetic sensor included in the downhole tool to obtain sample measurements of Earth's magnetic field. A magnitude of the conductor magnetic field is then measured to obtain a measured value for the conductor magnetic field, and a relationship between the known current and the measured value is determined to calculate a correction factor for the sample measurements based on the relationship. A computer in the downhole tool is then programmed to apply the correction factor to the sample measurements in response to operational currents measured in the power circuit during operation.

  • Patent number: 10476154
Abstract: Described embodiments provide sidelobe cancellation for Simultaneous Transmit and Receive systems. The sidelobe cancellation system includes an array having a primary aperture and an auxiliary array. The auxiliary array includes a plurality of antenna elements disposed adjacent to at least one side of the primary aperture. Each element of the auxiliary array is coupled to a variable attenuator, a variable phase shifter or a variable true time delay unit. A controller tunes the auxiliary array to cancel sidelobes of the primary aperture by adaptively selecting an attenuation value of the variable attenuator, a phase shift value of the variable phase shifter and a time delay value of the variable true time delay unit for each element of the auxiliary array. The auxiliary array operates as an adaptive finite-impulse response (FIR) filter with each antenna element of the auxiliary array operating as an adaptive tap of the adaptive FIR filter.

  • Publication number: 20190316425
Abstract: A carrier system may be used to position a wireline tool within a wellbore. The system includes a wireline tool carrier disposed on the end of a coiled tubing string. The wireline carrier tool includes a tubular member and stabilizers which secure the wireline tool within an internal passageway of the tubular member. The internal passageway defines a fluid flow path which facilitates fluid communication between the coiled tubing string and any device or wellbore portion below the wireline tool carrier. As the system is advanced within the wellbore fluid is conveyed around the wireline tool through the fluid flow path to remove obstructions that would otherwise inhibit the placement of the wireline tool within a deviated wellbore. Fluid conveyed through the system and around the wireline tool may also be used to perform various well stimulation and intervention functions.

Abstract: A method for operating a machine adapted to transport a load during a work cycle is disclosed. The method includes determining a first stationary state of the machine, and causing sensors to start transmission of first signals. The first stationary state corresponds to a first segment of the work cycle, and the first signals indicate a weight of the load during the first segment. Further, the method includes determining a moving state of the machine corresponding to a second segment of the work cycle, and causing the sensors to terminate transmission of the first signals. Furthermore, the method includes determining a second stationary state of the machine, and causing the sensors to start transmission of second signals. The second stationary state corresponds to a third segment of the work cycle, and the second signals indicate a weight of the load during the third segment.
