  • Publication number: 20190292854
Abstract: A steerable downhole tool may alter a direction of travel of a drilling operation while drilling into the earth. The tool may accomplish this by extending a rod from openings disposed in a side of the tool. The rod may slide within a cavity passing from one of the openings to another. The rod may degrade material from an internal surface of a borehole in which the tool is traveling, by engaging the surface with cutter elements exposed on opposing tips of the rod. The tool may also push off of the borehole wall opposite from the area of degradation.

  • Publication number: 20190297326
Abstract: A neural network architecture is disclosed for performing video frame prediction using a sequence of video frames and corresponding pairwise optical flows. The neural network processes the sequence of video frames and optical flows utilizing three-dimensional convolution operations, where time (or multiple video frames in the sequence of video frames) provides the third dimension in addition to the two-dimensional pixel space of the video frames. The neural network generates a set of parameters used to predict a next video frame in the sequence of video frames by sampling a previous video frame utilizing spatially-displaced convolution operations. In one embodiment, the set of parameters includes a displacement vector and at least one convolution kernel per pixel. Generating a pixel value in the next video frame includes applying the convolution kernel to a corresponding patch of pixels in the previous video frame based on the displacement vector.

  • Publication number: 20190294929
Abstract: An automated pruning technique is proposed for reducing the size of a convolutional neural network. A large-sized network is trained and then connections between layers are explored to remove redundant parameters. Specifically, a scaling neural subnetwork is connected to the neural network and designed to infer importance of the filters in the neural network during training of the neural network. Output from the scaling neural subnetwork can then be used to remove filters from the neural network, thereby reducing the size of the convolutional neural network.

  • Publication number: 20190295717
Abstract: An administration set for an infusion pump includes a free-flow prevention device having a movable plunger that includes a cam surface defining an uneven profile along a direction of movement of the plunger, wherein the shape of the cam surface profile indicates the administration set is authorized for use with the infusion pump and may further indicate the specific type of administration set. A sensor in the infusion pump senses movement of the plunger as a platen of the infusion pump is latched and generates a profile signal in the time domain representative of the cam surface profile. A processor evaluates the profile signal and controls operation of the pump to protect a patient from improper loading of an administration set, use of an unauthorized administration set, and/or use of an invalid type of administration set for a chosen infusion protocol.
