  • Patent number: 10289691
Abstract: In embodiments of dynamic replication of networked files, a process that utilizes file system objects is executed on a computing device. A file system request that is initiated by the process for a requested file system object can be intercepted, and a determination is made as to whether the requested file system object exists based on file system metadata. The file system request from the process is returned if the requested file system object is stored on the computing device. Alternatively, replication of the requested file system object is initiated from a networked peer device that has the requested file system object to replicate the file system object to the computing device. Alternatively, an indication that the requested file system object does not exist can be returned to the process.

  • Patent number: 10285343
Abstract: A center pivot irrigation system is described that includes a controller that makes use of a particular flow rate of input water to deliver a consistent depth of irrigation to user-defined areas under a pivot irrigator. The controller operates to pulse control valves for the nozzles/sprinkler heads on and off as the sprinkler arm rotates. The valve pattern along the span of the sprinkler arm is chosen during each operating cycle such that the total water flow through all the open valves matches the flow rate of the input or supply water to the pivot irrigator. To ensure a consistent depth, the speed is changed during valve duty cycles to match the density of open valves in the sprinkler arm. To ensure a consistent distribution under the sprinkler arm, each valve is monitored to ensure that the valves are given the same proportional share of the input water.

  • Patent number: 10288546
Abstract: In one aspect, the present teachings provide a system for performing cytometry that can be operated in three operational modes. In one operational mode, a fluorescence image of a sample is obtained by exciting one or more fluorophore(s) present in the sample by an excitation beam formed as a superposition of a top-hat-shaped beam with a plurality of beams that are radiofrequency shifted relative to one another. In another operational mode, a sample can be illuminated successively over a time interval by a laser beam at a plurality of excitation frequencies in a scanning fashion. The fluorescence emission from the sample can be detected and analyzed, e.g., to generate a fluorescence image of the sample. In yet another operational mode, the system can be operated to illuminate a plurality of locations of a sample concurrently by a single excitation frequency, which can be generated, e.g., by shifting the central frequency of a laser beam by a radiofrequency.

  • Patent number: 10287317
Abstract: This invention is related to the field of hypercholesterolemia. In particular, the invention provides compositions and methods to modulate circulating levels of low density lipoproteins by altering the conformation of the protein PCSK9 using synthetic ligands and/or synthetic ligand derivative sequences of 3-8 amino acids ranging between 350-2,000 Da. Altering the conformation of PCSK9 affects the interaction between PCSK9 and an endogenous low density lipoprotein receptor, and can lead to reduced or increased levels of circulating LDL-cholesterol. High LDL-cholesterol levels are associated with increased risk for heart disease. Low LDL-cholesterol levels may be problematic in other conditions, such as liver dysfunction; thus, there is also utility for ligands which can raise LDL levels.
