Abstract: A method of assembling a pipe on a water-supported floating platform is provided. The platform includes an open central bay, and a gantry on the platform is arranged so as to surround at least a portion of the bay. The method includes providing a pipe intake assembly and staves on the platform; transferring the pipe intake assembly to the interior space of the bay; assembling the individual staves on the pipe intake assembly in an offset construction; lowering the pipe portion within the bay and into the water until the upper ends of the staves reside within a lower portion of the gantry; increasing the length of the pipe portion by assembling additional staves to the upper ends of the assembled staves; and repeating the step of increasing the length of the portion of the pipe until the pipe has a desired length.

Abstract: A composition useful for altering the wavelength of visible or invisible light is disclosed. The composition comprising a solid host material and quantum confined semiconductor nanoparticles, wherein the nanoparticles are included in the composition in amount in the range from about 0.001 to about 15 weight percent based on the weight of the host material. The composition can further include scatterers. An optical component including a waveguide component and quantum confined semiconductor nanoparticles is also disclosed. A device including an optical component is disclosed. A system including an optical component including a waveguide component and quantum confined semiconductor nanoparticles and a light source optically coupled to the waveguide component is also disclosed. A decal, kit, ink composition, and method are also disclosed. A TFEL including quantum confined semiconductor nanoparticles on a surface thereof is also disclosed.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a search query is received from a computing device, the search query including one or more search terms. Based on the one or more search terms, one or more entities are identified from a set of multiple entities. Each of the one or more identified entities is associated with one or more application functionalities. In addition, a set of applications are identified based on the one or more search terms. Based at least on a type of at least one of the identified one or more entities, a determination is made that a particular application from the set of applications supports the at least one of the identified one or more entities. Thereafter, the applications in the set are ranked based in part on the determination that the particular application supports the at least one of the identified one or more entities.

Abstract: A document accessible on a network may be opened by multiple users. A user may use a thin client application to access the document, wherein an image of the document and XML data including comments and locations of the comments in the document. Hint icons are displayed in the document where comments are anchored. Upon selection of a hint, an HTML comments pane may be displayed to a side of the document, exposing comments and replies to comments currently stored in the document. The comments pane may be scrolled to the comment associated with the selected hint. Additionally, highlighting may be provided over elements in the document associated with a selected comment. Comments may be added via the comments pane and saved to the document on the network. Comments and comment location data may be communicated to other clients, allowing for collaborative communication via a thin client application.

Abstract: For allocating time and frequency resources for at least one data transmission via a fast fading frequency selective channel between an access point of a wireless telecommunications network and at least one communication device located in at least one respective moving conveyance, a processing device: obtains long-tem SINR information for a set of time and frequency resources; obtains at least one frequency correlation profile; obtains at least one time correlation profile; computes figures of merit for potential sequences of time and frequency resources, based on the obtained long-tem signal-plus-interference to noise ratio information and on the obtained time and frequency correlation profiles; selects a sequence that provides a figure of merit that expects reaching a target quality of service for said data transmission(s) or that is the best figure or merit; allowing said data transmission(s) via the selected sequence.

In some embodiments, a background upload process manages connectivity of the user device to the remote server and staging file uploads in a disconnected mode for automatic processing when connectivity is restored.

Abstract: An automatic wireless pairing method includes causing a base unit to wirelessly communicate with a number of wireless peripheral devices and wirelessly receive a peripheral device data signal from each of the wireless peripheral devices, wherein the peripheral device data signal received from each of the wireless peripheral devices is based on one or more measurements made by a sensor of the wireless peripheral device, analyzing in the base unit each of the peripheral device data signals, selecting in the base unit one or more of the wireless peripheral devices based on the analyzing of the peripheral device data signals, and responsive to the selecting step, establishing or maintaining wireless communication according to the wireless communications protocol between the base unit and the selected one or more of the wireless peripheral devices and not the wireless peripheral devices other than the selected one or more of the wireless peripheral devices.

An example method includes analyzing received advertisement detection information associated with the advertisement, the advertisement detection information detected from a presentation of the advertisement; identifying a buy order corresponding to the presentation of the advertisement based on the advertisement detection information; determining a purchased ratings value from the buy order; comparing the purchased ratings value of the buy order to received ratings information corresponding to the presentation of the advertisement to determine whether the advertisement was presented as indicated in the buy order; and generating a performance monitoring report using the buy order and the advertisement detection information to indicate whether the ratings information is less than the purchased ratings value.

Abstract: An intranasal spray device contains a composition for the intranasal delivery of fentanyl or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof to an animal includes an aqueous solution of fentanyl or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable additive selected from (i) a pectin and (ii) a poloxamer and chitosan or a salt or derivative thereof; provided that when the composition comprises a pectin it is substantially free of divalent metal ions; and which, in comparison to a simple aqueous solution of fentanyl administered intranasally at the same dose, provides a peak plasma concentration of fentanyl (Cmax) that is from 10 to 80% of that achieved using a simple aqueous solution of fentanyl administered intranasally at an identical fentanyl dose. A method for treating or managing pain by intranasally administering the composition is also disclosed.

Abstract: A ferrule package includes a plurality of ferrules and a packaging device configured for containing the ferrules in a uniform orientation. A selected ferrule may be removed by moving an aperture into alignment with a receptacle containing the ferrule inserting an insert such as a tube into a bore of the ferrule, and removing the selected ferrule from the receptacle while the ferrule is on the insert. The ferrule may be removed without making contact with the ferrule.

Abstract: An insulated electrical conductor (MI cable) may include an inner electrical conductor, an electrical insulator at least partially surrounding the electrical conductor, and an outer electrical conductor at least partially surrounding the electrical insulator. The insulated electrical conductor may have a substantially continuous length of at least about 100 m. The insulated electrical conductor may have an initial breakdown voltage, over a substantially continuous length of at least about 100 m, of at least about 60 volts per mil of the electrical insulator thickness (about 2400 volts per mm of the electrical insulator thickness) at about 1300° F. (about 700° C.) and about 60 Hz. The insulated electrical conductor may be capable of being coiled around a radius of about 100 times a diameter of the insulated electrical conductor. The outer electrical conductor may have a yield strength based on a 0.2% offset of about 100 kpsi.

Abstract: A set of contact lenses having peripheral zones with optical power parameters determined in relation to the optical powers of the central portions of the lenses. In a specific embodiment, an optical parameter assigned to a given peripheral zone of a lens from the set represents a difference between an optical power of the lens in such peripheral zone and an optical power of the lens in the central portion. A method for determining optical parameters of such set of lenses and an apparatus implementing such determination based on imaging data acquired as a result of imaging an eye and generation of a representation of the lenses at least in part of such imaging data.

Abstract: A charge pump is regulated based up its output level. The regulation circuitry adjusts the frequency of the pump's clock based on feedback from pump's output. The pump's clock signal is generated by an oscillator whose frequency depends on a reference voltage level. The reference voltage level is dependent upon a regulation signal. In an example, a transistor whose gate is controlled by the regulation level is part of a series of elements in voltage divider, where the reference value is taken from a node of the divider.

Abstract: A communication device is configured to encode and/or decode low density parity check (LDPC) coded signals. Such LDPC coded signals are characterized by LDPC matrices having a particular form. An LDPC matrix may be partitioned into a left hand side matrix and the right hand side matrix. The right hand side matrix can be lower triangular such that all of the sub-matrices therein are all-zero-valued sub-matrices (e.g., all of the elements within an all-zero-valued sub-matrix have the value of “0”) except for those sub-matrices located on a main diagonal of the right hand side matrix and another diagonal that is adjacently located to the left of the main diagonal. A device may be configured to employ different LDPC codes having different LDPC matrices for different LDPC coded signals. The different LDPC matrices may be based generally on a common form (e.g., with a right hand side matrix as described above).
