  • Patent number: 9737408
Abstract: An orthopaedic surgical instrument includes a cup including an outer surface having an opening positioned on a component-engaging side and an inner wall extending from the opening of the outer surface to a back wall. The inner wall having a plurality of stepped surfaces facing the component-engaging side. Each of the plurality of stepped surfaces is sized to receive a platform of a tibial tray.

  • Patent number: 9730706
Abstract: A method of using an orthopedic surgical instrument assembly that includes an instrument handle configured to clamp a broach and femoral stem trial assembly. A depth stop is configured to removably couple to the instrument handle. When the broach and femoral stem trial are advanced into a medullary canal of a patient's femur, a substantially planar proximal surface of the depth stop is configured to engage the distal surface of the femur, determining the depth of the broach in the medullary canal. The proximal surface of the depth stop is parallel to the joint line, defining an oblique angle to the anatomical axis of the femur. The depth stop may be attached to the instrument handle at a number of positions to control the depth of the broach. The assembly may include a spacer plate removably coupled to the depth stop that distalizes the broach in the medullary canal.

  • Publication number: 20170135705
Abstract: An orthopaedic surgical instrument assembly includes a system handle configured to clamp a broach and femoral stem trial assembly. The system handle includes a clamp lever and a release lever both pivotally coupled to the system handle, and a leaf spring connecting the clamp lever and the release lever. When the release lever is moved from an unclamped position to a clamped position, the leaf spring is put in tension, and the clamp lever engages a flange of the broach, securing the broach to the system handle. Methods of assembling the system handle are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 9386999
Abstract: An orthopaedic surgical instrument assembly is disclosed. The orthopaedic surgical assembly includes a guide tower, an offset tool attached to the guide tower, and a stem trial. A guide tower includes a base surface adapted to be positioned on a proximal end of a patient's tibia and defining a first axis extending through the base surface. The offset tool is configured to rotate about the first axis. The offset tool includes a tool body that is positioned in the guide tower and is integrally formed with a shaft extending through an opening defined in the base surface of the guide tower. The stem trial is removably coupled to a lower end of the shaft.
