  • Publication number: 20210055921
Abstract: An apparatus and method is described that digitally coordinates dynamically adaptable clock and voltage supply to significantly reduce the energy consumed by a processor without impacting its performance or latency. A signal is generated that indicates a long latency operation. This signal is used to reduce power supply voltage and frequency of the adaptable clock. An early resume indicator is generated a few nanoseconds before normal operations are about to resume. This early resume signal is used to power up the power-downed voltage regulator, and/or can increase frequency and/or supply voltage back to normal level before normal processor operations are about to resume.

  • Publication number: 20200395845
Abstract: Disclosed is an N:1 (where N is an integer such as 3 or higher) resonant star topology converter to generate an input supply (e.g., 1.8V) for a processor (e.g., a system-on-chip (SOC)) from a higher power supply source (e.g., 12.6V) such as a battery or other source. The resonant star topology based regulator can be realized by a combination of on-die and on-package components as opposed to voltage regulators on motherboard with discrete inductor and capacitors. In one example, capacitors of the N:1 resonant star topology are implemented as multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC). The architecture of the N:1 resonant star topology based regulator results in high bandwidth. For example, compared to traditional step-down voltage regulators, the N:1 resonant star topology based regulator exhibits ten times higher bandwidth.

  • Publication number: 20200236827
Abstract: A system and method for the large-scale production of PCBs including a continuous selective adhesion process for creating printed circuit traces providing input to a production line. A roll of printed circuit traces is produced using rolls of flexible substrate, conductive layer, and conductive layer support by applying adhesive between the rolls of flexible substrate and conductive layer, bringing the rolls together, transferring a circuit pattern onto the flexible substrate, curing the adhesive through non-opaque areas of the circuit pattern, and separating the non-bonded areas. The resulting printed circuit traces are applied from the roll to mounts, and circuit components are applied from a roll to the traces as the mounts move along the line. Additional rolls of printed circuit traces and circuit components may be incorporated, and multilayer PCBs may be produced. As part of the production line, the finished PCBs may be applied to flat or contoured products.

  • Patent number: 10247434
Abstract: According to some embodiments, a heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system comprises a circulation fan, one or more humidity sensors operable to sense humidity data associated with an enclosed space, and a controller. In operation, the controller receives the humidity data from the one or more humidity sensors and receives air quality data associated with at least one air pollutant. The controller determines, based on the air quality data, that a threshold associated with the air pollutant has been exceeded and determines, based on the humidity data, that a threshold associated with humidity has not been exceeded. The controller operates the circulation fan in response to determining that the threshold associated with the air pollutant has been exceeded and the threshold associated with humidity has not been exceeded, the circulation fan operated for filtration purposes while not servicing any conditioning demand.
