  • Patent number: 9344283
Abstract: Particular embodiments determine a modified image for a CAPTCHA. The CAPTCHA may include an original image, a challenge based on the original image, and/or a correct response based on the original image. The modified image may be a scrambled version of the original image. Web-browser-executable code is determined for unscrambling the modified image back to the original image. The modified image and the web-browser-executable code are then provided to a computing device. Upon receiving the modified image and the web-browser-executable code, the computing device then displays the original image based on the modified image and the web-browser-executable code.

  • Publication number: 20150260976
Abstract: An optics arrangement for a solid immersion lens (SIL) is disclosed. The arrangement enables the SIL to freely tilt. The arrangement includes a SIL having an optical axis extending from an engaging surface and a rear surface of the SIL; a SIL housing having a cavity configured to accept the SIL therein while allowing the SIL to freely tilt within the cavity, wherein the cavity includes a hole positioned such that the optical axis passes there-through, to thereby allow light collected by the SIL to propagate to an objective lens; and, a SIL retainer attached to the SIL housing and configured to prevent the SIL from exiting the cavity.

  • Patent number: 8843406
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for improving word-of-mouth online advertising are provided. Construct a social network including multiple users based on the users' social network data and optionally further based on the users' demographical and/or other personal information. Categorize the users in the social network with respect to a type of product in terms of their propensity to adopt the type of product and to influence others in the social network in adopting the type of product. Determine appropriate content object(s) for each category of users, and send the content object(s) to each category of users via different channels at the appropriate time during the product's lifecycle.

  • Publication number: 20130313128
Abstract: An electrochemical sensor apparatus and electrochemical sensing method within an aqueous system are described, using one or more working electrodes of boron doped diamond (BDD). A cathodic reduction process provides a cathodic measurement and, substantially simultaneously, an anodic oxidation process provides an anodic measurement. A sum of a content of two equilibrium species within the aqueous system is obtained using both the cathodic measurement and the anodic measurement. One example measures total free chlorine by simultaneously measuring hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite ion (OCl?).

  • Patent number: 8580728
Abstract: The use of fragrance compositions comprising fragrance compounds selected among: aldehydes, ?,?-unsaturated aldehydes, alcohols, ketones, and mixtures thereof in any home and personal care product, each fragrance compound being able to restrict the formation of indole to less than 0.01 ppm (wt/wt) after 24 hours incubation at room temperature in an airtight sealed vessel of suitable fresh human urine containing 0.28% by weight of each fragrance compound in order to prevent the development of indole based malodours from faecal and urine based soils.

  • Patent number: 8436918
Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods are provided for the real-time positional manipulation of stereoscopic (3D) subtitles in a stereoscopic viewing environment. A stereoscopic subtitling workstation is provided for creating stereoscopic subtitling content for use with stereoscopic video content in which stereoscopic subtitling content can be manipulated and adjusted in real-time in a stereoscopic viewing environment to set the desired viewing position and appearance parameters for the stereoscopic subtitling content. The stereoscopic subtitling workstation may further automatically analyze the stereoscopic video content and automatically generate optimal viewing parameters for the stereoscopic subtitling content, including its 3D offset, according to desired appearances and interaction between such content.
