  • Publication number: 20200380118
Abstract: This patent concerns novel technology for detecting backdoors of neural network, particularly deep neural network (DNN), classifiers. The backdoors are planted by suitably poisoning the training dataset, i.e., a data-poisoning attack. Once added to input samples from a source class (or source classes), the backdoor pattern causes the decision of the neural network to change to a target class. The backdoors under consideration are small in norm so as to be imperceptible to a human, but this does not limit their location, support or manner of incorporation. There may not be components (edges, nodes) of the DNN which are dedicated to achieving the backdoor function. Moreover, the training dataset used to learn the classifier may not be available.

  • Patent number: 10846308
Abstract: This patent concerns novel technology for detection of zero-day data classes for domains with high-dimensional mixed continuous/discrete feature spaces, including Internet traffic. Assume there is a known-class database available for learning a null hypothesis that a given new batch of unlabeled data does not contain any data from unknown/anomalous classes. A novel and effective generalization of previous parsimonious mixture and topic modeling methods is developed. The novel unsupervised anomaly detector (AD) acts on a new unlabeled batch of data to either identify the statistically significant anomalous classes latently present therein or reject the alternative hypothesis that the new batch contains any anomalous classes. The present AD invention can be applied in an on-line setting. Labeling (by a human expert or by other means) of anomalous clusters provides new supervised data that can be used to adapt an actively learned classifier whose objective is to discriminate all the classes.

  • Patent number: 10441190
Abstract: An EEG monitor with sensors placed to detect signals and analyze the signals to determine if a frequency below 12 Hz, and more particularly between 3 Hz and 8 Hz, called theta waves, are present. Theta waves are generated when the brain is entering a drowsy or sleep mode. The sensors detect brain wave signals and transmit the signals to a microprocessor which analyzes the signals and determines the brain waves being detected. The brain waves are continuously monitored and the data is continuously transmitted to a microprocessor. If brain waves are detected in the predetermined range of between 3 Hz and 8 Hz the microprocessor activates a stimulus, to wake up the person wearing the device. The stimulus may be visual, auditory or tactile, such as an actuator, a phone call or any other stimulus.

  • Publication number: 20190216279
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner bag assembly is adapted to be removably disposed within a tank of a vacuum cleaner, and the bag assembly includes a panel assembly made from a first material and forming an enclosure having an interior volume, and an aperture extends through the panel assembly. A shield member may be disposed within the interior volume and secured to one or more portions of the panel assembly, and the shield member may comprise a second material that is different than the first material. The first material may have a wicking barrier that inhibits wicking when the bag assembly becomes wet. The shield member is adapted to protect a portion of the panel assembly when the vacuum cleaner bag assembly is disposed within the tank and, together with the wicking barrier and a properly chosen first material, enhances performance of the vacuum bag assembly when wet.
