Once a user selects one or more 3D object files, the system establishes a network connection between the online server and the client 3D printer and then streams the selected 3D object file from the online server to the 3D printer in a format supported by the 3D printer. The system may also process received 3D object files to produce a plurality of formatted 3D object files, each formatted 3D object file converted to a format based on the received set of printing parameters and a set of capabilities for a different 3D printer of a plurality of 3D printers.

    Abstract: Processes and systems for creating and/or modifying font glyphs comprising the addition of variably-sized negative space perforations in various shapes placed among the glyph body black space and within the glyph body outline. Within each negative space perforation may be placed nested positive space perforations of variable size and shape. A user of font glyphs generated in accordance with the invention can employ the font glyphs for on-screen digital viewing and/or for hardcopy prints. By using variable-sized perforations and variable-sized nested perforations, font glyphs are generated that consume less printing compound when generating hardcopy text. Font glyphs generated in accordance with the invention are more efficient to use when printing hardcopies due to intelligently arranged negative/positive space that utilizes print compound bleeding, when available, and display only the most distinct sections of each font glyph, assisting in maintaining sufficient text legibility.

Alternatively, the alignment of the liquid crystal may be switched by a second energy supplying means such as an electric field, the light serving to produce heat to aid the switching. Either or both energy sources may be applied locally for switching of selected areas or pixels. Energy levels at the bistable substrate may be adjusted by the use of an oligomeric additive (slippery surface).
