Abstract: A method and system for managing capabilities of a control device in a Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) home network. The method includes advertising a list of capabilities of a control device to a control point in the UPnP home network, updating, by the control device, a capability in the list of capabilities, and advertising an updated list of capabilities to the control point.

Abstract: A method, a terminal, and a server for integratedly managing Personal Health Device (PHD) standard and PHD non-standard data are provided. The terminal includes a first sensor for sensing a biological signal, and outputting PHD standard data that is in accordance with predetermined PHD standards; at least one second sensor for sensing a biological signal, and outputting PHD non-standard data that is not in accordance with the predetermined PHD standards; a controller for generating a first data field area based on the PHD standard data, generating a second data field area based on the PHD non-standard data, and then generating a transmission signal including the generated first data field area and the generated second data field area; and a communication unit for receiving the transmission signal from the controller, and transmitting the received transmission signal.

Abstract: A roaming service method in a mobile broadcasting system and a system thereof are provided. A terminal receives a service guide from a corresponding visited service provider (Visited SP) when the terminal moves to a roaming area. The terminal transmits a roaming request message for requesting a purchase item allowable for individual services to a home service provider (Home SP) based on the received service guide. Upon receipt of the roaming request message, the Home SP negotiates roaming availability and allowable scope for each individual service with the Visited SP where the terminal is located, based on the roaming request message. The Home SP transmits the roaming availability and allowable scope for the individual service, negotiated with the Visited SP, to the terminal.

Abstract: A terminal apparatus is provided for receiving a broadcast service from a broadcasting system. A receiver receives a notification message from the broadcasting system. A message parser parses the notification message received by the receiver according to a certain format. A controller determines whether the received notification message is a notification message to be used by a user or a notification message to be used by the terminal based on content of the notification message parsed by the message parser, and performs an operation according to the determination result.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for sharing a service guide or a service guide fragment in a mobile broadcast system supporting a mobile broadcast service. A Broadcast Service Provisioning Client Function (BSP-C) sends a request for the service guide or service guide fragment to a Broadcast Service Provisioning Management Function (BSP-M). The BSP-M transmits the service guide or service guide fragment to the BSP-C if the BSP-M has the service guide or service guide fragment.

Abstract: A roaming service method in a mobile broadcasting system and a system thereof are provided. The method includes measuring strength of a received signal from a serving broadcast transmitter while receiving a broadcast service, and comparing the measured strength of the received signal with a predetermined reference value; periodically measuring strength of the received signal while continuously receiving the broadcast service when the measured strength of the received signal is greater than the reference value; sending a handover start request message for the broadcasting system to a base station of a mobile communication system when the measured strength of the received signal is less than or equal to the reference value; and performing handover from the serving broadcast transmitter to a target broadcast transmitter upon receipt of an accept message for the handover start request for the broadcasting system from the base station.

Abstract: A mobile broadcast system having a terminal is disclosed. The terminal transmits a message including a type-based identifier (ID) to a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM) in a corresponding network during network access. The BSM determines a type of an ID of the received message and then performs an authentication procedure according to the type of the ID.

Abstract: A remote management method for a terminal supporting a mobile broadcast service is provided. The terminal receives a service guide with a terminal function management condition from a mobile broadcast service broadcasting server, stores and processes the service guide, and delivers a service subscription request to the mobile broadcast service broadcasting server, receives a message with a Device Management (DM) command generated by a DM server, as the mobile broadcast service broadcasting server receiving the service subscription request sends a request for a DM command regarding a function and a management operation of a terminal to be managed, to the DM server, and stores the DM command and executes the DM command if a status of the terminal satisfies the terminal function management condition.

Abstract: Service guide transmission/reception methods and apparatuses for providing users with a service guide supporting multiplay service are provided. Service guide delivery information is received at a terminal. Device class grouping information is extracted from the Service guide delivery information. A Service Guide Data Unit (SGDU) having service guide information required for composing a service guide matched to the terminal is received. The service guide composed using the service guide information received by means of the SGDU is displayed.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing preferred contents to a user in an Internet broadcasting system that provides a broadcast service using an Internet data transport protocol. A user terminal sends a request for a broadcast service to a service provider. The user terminal receives an authentication key from the service provider, and delivers the authentication key to a third display terminal in which a user of the user terminal is not registered. The third display terminal delivers the authentication key and connection information of the third display terminal to the service provider. The service provider authenticates the third display terminal. The user terminal transmits information selected by the user to the service provider, which transmits broadcast service data related to the selected information to the third display terminal for being displayed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing content in a broadcast system is provided. Upon receipt of a request for synchronization from a mobile terminal, a set-top box creates a recommended content list based on user information received from the mobile terminal and delivers the recommended content list to the mobile terminal. The set-top box receives from the mobile terminal a content list, selected from the recommended content list and included in a Personal Information Management System (PIMS) updated using the recommended content list. The set-top box determines whether a user of the mobile terminal intends to view content from the received content list at a start time of the content. Upon receipt of view acceptance information from the mobile terminal, the set-top box sends a request for the content to a service provider at the start time, receives the requested content from the service provider, and provides the received content to the mobile terminal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for updating firmware of terminals in a mobile broadcast system including a Broadcast Service Distribution/Adaptation fragment (BSDA) and a Broadcast service Subscription Management (BSM). The method includes requesting creation of a content fragment, by the BSM, by transmitting a firmware package file for a firmware update of the terminals to the BSDA; creating a content fragment including the firmware package file and broadcasting the created content fragment to the terminals by the BSDA; detecting the firmware package file from the received content fragment; and performing the firmware update using the firmware package file.

Abstract: A method and mobile communication system for providing a user defined bundle in a terminal of a mobile broadcast system are provided. The method includes receiving a service guide from a BroadCAST (BCAST) Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSDA), creating a user defined bundle based on a content or a service desired by a user, including the user defined bundle in a user defined bundle subscription request message and transmitting the user defined bundle subscription request message to a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM), and receiving from the BSM a user defined bundle subscription response message in which a user defined bundle subscription and a purchase complete message is included.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a personalized service in a broadcasting system, and a system thereof. A BCAST Subscription Management (BSM) sends a service creation request message to a BCAST Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSDA), the service creation request message including at least one purchase data fragment to which maximum allowed content and maximum allowed service elements are added. The BSDA creates a service guide using the purchase data fragments, and delivers it to a terminal. The terminal checks a service type in the service guide, sends a subscription request for the personalized service to the BSM, receives an encryption key associated with the personalized service, and receives the personalized service with the encryption key.

Abstract: An Internet broadcasting system for supporting broadcast services by using Internet Protocol (IP), and more particularly an apparatus and method for providing a user's preferred contents in an Internet broadcasting system are provided. The method of providing contents in an Internet broadcasting system includes searching for contents in an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) according to a user preference, constituting a user channel, based on the searched contents and providing a terminal with the searched contents according to the user channel.
