  • Publication number: 20030129026
Abstract: The present invention relates to a coupling device for connecting members. The coupling device comprises a coupling case that has connecting slots, in which the members to be connected are placed, and wedges that are inserted into the space between the coupling case and the members. The coupling device of the present invention can connect members using the wedging action under external forces. The wedges are made to have a higher friction coefficient on the surface that touches the members than on the surface that touches the coupling case.

  • Publication number: 20030126351
Abstract: The present invention relates to a memory system, or more particularly to a conflict-free memory system, which can reduce access time to the memory system by supporting simultaneous access to pq units of various data elements of types of 4 directional blocks (pq) and eight directional lines of a constant interval at a location of data within M×N array in a SIMD processor having pq units of PE's (Processing Elements). Accordingly, the present invention is an improvement over the previous memory systems, from the perspective of restriction of subarrary types, constant intervals, and the size of a data array, hardware cost, speed and complexity. Further, it provides a method of address calculation and data routing using said improved conflict-free memory system.

  • Publication number: 20030044055
Abstract: A fully-automated method for segmentation of white matter, gray matter, and cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) and for calculating their respective volumes is disclosed. The technique preferably uses a T2-weighted scan and a proton-density scan. The T2-weighted scans are used to highlight those portion of the brain corresponding to CSF. Thereafter, the proton density images are separated in CSF-containing and CSF-free portions, in accordance with the T2-weighted images. The CSF-free portion is then segmented into white matter and gray matter portions. The CSF-containing portion is further segmented into pure CSF-regions, and regions containing a mixture of gray and white matter and CSF. After CSF is segmented from this mixture, the white and gray matter and again segmented, and the respective volumes of white matter, gray matter, and CSF are calculated.

  • Publication number: 20030041307
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electronic dictionary system with a tree structure and its output, or more particularly to an electronic dictionary system and its output, which comprises all the words in a dictionary in a tree structure, wherein said system displays a word in a tree structure or in specified color allocated by said tree structure; allows easy comprehension in a visual manner by relating the meaning of the word to the general association of its adjacent words; and allows expression of an inputted sentence in a flow of specified colors indicating the basic concepts.

  • Patent number: 6432451
Abstract: Disclosed is a composition for use in dermal application. The composition includes microbeads or chemically stable particles having an internal structure of pores. A chemical compound having a pharmaceutical or cosmetic activity is retained in the internal structure of the porous particles. Each of the particles is coated with at least one of a silicone and a polysiloxane-based compound. Also disclosed is a method of making a composition. A plurality of particles containing a chemical compound in its internal structure is prepared. A coating mixture including at least one of a silicone and a polysiloxane-based compound with a solvent is also prepared. The particles are mixed with the coating mixture, which coats over the particles. The coated particles are subject to drying to evaporate the solvent from the coating mixture.

  • Publication number: 20020062272
Abstract: An investment consulting system executable on a computer can provide personalized investment service to a plurality of users through a network. The system includes an investment performance estimating part for periodically calculating a performance index based on a return and a risk for each investment. It also includes a client's attitude analysis part for calculating performance ranks by quantitatively grasping and synthesizing a client's investment attitude received from a communicating part, and obtaining a client index by calculating the performance ranks in terms of the same dimension as the investment performance. An asset allocation part calculates investment allocations for each kind of investment in accordance with the client's performance ranks, and reports the investment allocations to the client through the communication part.
