Abstract: A content providing apparatus and method, and a content reproduction apparatus and method for accessing a content stream in a hybrid three-dimensional television (3DTV) are disclosed. The content providing apparatus may include a content stream generation unit to generate a first content stream corresponding to a reference image and a second content stream corresponding to a supplementary image, a descriptor generation unit to generate a descriptor associated with the first content stream and the second content stream, and a data transmission unit to transmit the first content stream, the second content stream, and the descriptor to a content reproduction apparatus.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for constructing a verb phrase translation pattern using a bilingual parallel corpus. Each of the apparatus or method recognizes a predicate and an argument using a syntax analysis result and a word alignment result of a source sentence from a plurality of bilingual parallel corpus, extracts a translation pattern candidate and an occurrence frequency using the recognized predicate and argument, and then generates a basic verb phrase translation pattern by verifying the translation pattern candidate, and generalizes the generated basic verb phrase translation pattern to generate a general verb phrase pattern so as to be applied to various language pairs and minimize an error in the verb phrase translation pattern and determine an appropriate generalization level using a co-occurrence frequency of a predicate and an argument of the verb phrase translation pattern and a translation probability of the predicate.

Abstract: A similarity calculating method and apparatus are disclosed. A similarity calculating method according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes extracting similarity calculating data, which is determined in advance, by receiving a communication activity record for every user; modeling a communication activity pattern for every user and common information between the users based on the extracted similarity calculating data; and calculating a similarity between users using the modeled communication activity pattern for every user and common information. The modeling includes: modeling the communication activity pattern by calculating a value of a static feature from the similarity calculating data, and modeling the common information by calculating a value of a dynamic feature from the similarity calculating data.

Abstract: A display device includes a display panel, a plurality of optical sheets disposed under the display panel, a light guiding plate disposed under the optical sheets and including a light guiding protrusion protruding toward a side direction from a light guiding corner, and a support frame for supporting the display panel and including a protrusion cover in the frame corner to cover the light guiding protrusion. The height of an upper surface of the protrusion cover is preferably no less than the height of an upper surface of the optical sheets. The display device prevents the problem in molding of the protrusion cover of the support frame by increasing the thickness of the protrusion cover. Accordingly, a small-sized thin film light guiding plate can be applied to the display device so that luminance of the display device can be improved, and the thickness of the display device can be reduced.
