Patent number: 8321153Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of finding an isotopic cluster in a polypeptide and determining the monoisotopic mass of the cluster. The method comprises an algorithm for finding an isotopic cluster based on a probabilistic model, defined by each of peaks in the isotopic cluster, and determining the monoisotopic mass of the isotopic cluster. The probabilistic model of the isotopic cluster includes characteristic functions for mass, that is, a function of the ratio of two peak intensities, and a function of the product of two ratios obtained from three peaks. These characteristic functions for mass define the shape of peaks acceptable in an actual isotopic cluster for the mass of any isotopic cluster. The algorithm of finding the isotopic cluster based on the functions uses the characteristics to score the degree of the approximation of any isotopic cluster to the spectral shape of a theoretical cluster.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2007Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignees: SNU R & DB Foundation, University of Seoul Foundation of Industry Academic CooperationInventors: Kun Soo Park, Joo Young Yoon, Sun Ho Lee, Eun Ok Paek, Hee Jin Park, Sang Won Lee

Patent number: 6396737Abstract: Instead of using a common substrate (101) for each sector of a flash memory, trenches are used to isolate columnar active substrate regions (304) of the substrate (101), and independent access to each of these columnar regions (304) is provided. First, the independent access to each of these columnar regions (304) provides a capability for achieving more precise control over the voltage on the floating gates (106). For example, flash memory in accordance with the present invention is better suited for multi-level storage (storing of more than 1 bit of information per cell). Second, the independent access to each of these columnar regions (304) also provides a capability for areas of flash memory smaller than an entire sector to be erased at one time. Finally, since both programming and erasing is achieved by way of cold electron tunneling from the columnar active substrate region (304), no high voltages need to be applied to either the drain (102) or source (104).Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2000Date of Patent: May 28, 2002Assignee: Hyundai Electronics America, Inc.Inventors: Sukyoon Yoon, Pavel Klinger, Joo Young Yoon
