  • Patent number: 6168094
Abstract: A fuel injection valve is is described. The fuel injection valve includes a swirl disk downstream from a valve seat, the swirl disk being made of at least one metallic material, having at least two swirl channels opening into a swirl chamber, and in which all layers are adheringly deposited directly one on top of the other by electroplating (multilayer electroplating). A perforated spray disk having an outlet opening shaped so that it directly influences the flow of the fuel exiting through the outlet opening of the swirl disk is arranged directly downstream from the swirl disk. The fuel injection valve is particularly well suited for direct injection of fuel into the combustion chamber of a compressed mixture externally ignited internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6168099
Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing an orifice disk. Metal foils are made available, opening geometries and auxiliary openings are introduced in the metal foils. The individual metal foils are superimposed in centered fashion. The metal foils are joined using a joining method, thus creating an orifice disk band having a plurality of rounds. Finally an isolation of the rounds or orifice disks is performed. The orifice disks manufactured in this manner are particularly suitable for use in fuel injection valves that are utilized in mixture-compressing, spark-ignited internal combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 6161782
Abstract: An atomizer disk is composed of at least one metallic material, is configured with at least one inlet opening in an upper cover layer and at least one outlet opening in a lower base layer, and has at least two swirl channels that terminate into a swirl chamber, the swirl chamber being provided in a middle swirl generation layer. Through the inlet opening and the swirl channels, two flows of different natures (biflux) enter the swirl chamber. All the layers of the atomizer disk are built up directly onto one another by electroplating metal deposition (multilayer electroplating). The atomizer disk is suitable for use in a fuel injection valve, in particular a high-pressure injection valve for direct injection of fuel into a combustion chamber of a mixture-compressing, spark-ignited internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6050507
Abstract: The orifice plate has a complete fluid passageway including inlet orifices, outlet orifices and at least one channel (cavity) disposed between them. The at least three functional levels of the orifice plate, having in each case a characteristic orifice structure, are constructed one on top of the other through electrodeposition (multi-layer electroplating), so the orifice plate is embodied in one piece. Because the orifice plate should be hydraulically unthrottled if the available plate surface is small, the inlet orifices are created with the largest possible circumferences. The orifice plate is particularly suited for use at injection valves, in paint nozzles, inhalers or ink-jet printers, in freeze-drying methods, for spraying or injecting fluids, or for atomizing medications.

  • Patent number: 5911366
Abstract: A perforated spray disk, particularly suitable for use in injection valves of fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines. The spray disk has at least one conical spray opening which expands in the direction of flow.

  • Patent number: 5732888
Abstract: An electromagnetically operable valve includes at least one component part, e.g. the armature, which possesses, prior to the application of a wear resistant coating, a wedged surface, which is in each case variably creatable in accordance with a magnetic and hydraulic optimum. The annular impact segment formed by the wedging possesses a defined impact face width or contact width which remains constant throughout the service life, since any wearing of the impact face does not lead, in continuous running, to an enlargement of the contact. The valve is particularly suitable for use in fuel injection systems of explosion-type, spark-ignition combustion engines.

  • Patent number: 5730368
Abstract: The nozzle plate according to the present invention includes an axial passage for a fluid, particularly for a fuel, which is made up in the downstream direction by a filter, a ring chamber and an uninterrupted ring gap following one another. Using this arrangement, a cohesive tulip-shaped jet lamella can be produced which thins out in the downstream direction and then disintegrates into tiny droplets. As a consequence, the exhaust emission of an internal combustion engine can be further reduced and likewise a reduction of the fuel consumption can be achieved. The nozzle plate is suited particularly for injection valves in fuel injection systems of internal combustion engines with externally supplied ignition which compress the mixture.

  • Patent number: 5707012
Abstract: An atomizing sieve of a fuel injection valve having a dish-like concavely cambered form is provided downstream of at least one spray orifice of the fuel injection valve, as seen in the direction of flow of fuel. The atomizing sieve is cast with an outer circumferential region in a protective cap provided at the downstream end of the fuel injection valve. For protection against mechanical effects, protective prongs of the protective cap project further downstream than the lowest region of the atomizing sieve. When the fuel is being injected, a part quantity collects in this lowest region and represents a comparatively static liquid quantity which new fuel then strikes. This arrangement allows an ideal break-up of the fuel into very small droplets. The atomizing sieve also forms a protective shield against icing-up, plugging and settlement of chemical substances within the fuel injection valve.

  • Patent number: 5599466
Abstract: A method of making a conical spray opening for a perforated valve spray disk by electrical discharge machining. During electrical discharg machining by an electrode, particles are removed by flushing in a direction opposite the direction of electrical discharge machining and counterflushing by a second dielectric after the opening has been created in a direction opposite from the electrical discharge machining, resulting in the opening having a conical shape.

  • Patent number: 5186390
Abstract: A propelling nozzle has upper and lower primary and secondary flaps which are disposed opposite one another at a mutual distance and which are sealingly movably guided between lateral wall portions of a four-cornered nozzle housing. The primary flaps are arranged pivotally about a fixed axis of rotation on the nozzle housing. The secondary flaps, in each case upstream of levers non-rotatably connected with the primary flaps, are pivotally linked to pivots situated on the side facing away from the nozzle flow. The secondary flaps change into the primary flaps with a surface section which is bent concentrically with respect to the pivots. The primary and secondary flaps are arranged in a four-cornered nozzle housing which is itself closed in. In each case the secondary flaps are arranged on the nozzle housing in an axially movable and angularly adjustable manner at the downstream end. The levers are formed on interior sections which are bent away from the primary flaps in a toggle-lever-type manner.
