Abstract: A 1-aryl-pyrazole of the formula ##STR1## in which R represents cyano or nitro,Ar represents in each case optionally substituted phenyl or pyridyl,X represents an azido group, or represents the radical ##STR2## and R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each independently represents alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, halogenoalkyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkyloxy, or represents in each case optionally substituted aryl, aryloxy, aralkyl or aralkyloxy,but wherein, in the case where R represents cyano and X simultaneously represents an azido group, Ar does not represent unsubstituted phenyl and does not represent 5-nitro-2-pyridyl. The compounds exhibit herbicidal and plant growth-regulating activity.

Abstract: Herbicidally active novel substituted 5-acylamino-1-phenylpyrazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents cyano, alkoxycarbonyl, alkenyloxycarbonyl, alkinyloxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, alkenylaminocarbonyl or alkinylaminocarbonyl,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, halogenoalkyl or optionally substituted aryl andR.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7, which are identical or different, represent hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulphonyl, alkoxycarbonyl or a radical --R.sup.8,whereinR.sup.8 represents halogenoalkyl, with the proviso that at least one of the radicals R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 or R.sup.7 represents a radical --R.sup.8, but R.sup.1 does not represent cyano if R.sup.5 represents trifluoromethyl. Many of the intermediates are also novel.

Abstract: 5-Dichloracetamido-4-nitro-1-aryl-pyrazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine or bromine,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, fluorine or chlorine,R.sup.3 represents halogen, halogenoalkyl, halogenoalkoxy, halogenoalkylthio or halogenoalkylsulphonyl,R.sup.4 represents hydrogen, fluorine, or chlorine, andR.sup.5 represents fluorine, chlorine or bromine, but in the case in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.5 simultaneously represent chlorine and in addition R.sup.2 and R.sup.4 simultaneously represent hydrogen, R.sup.3 does not represent chlorine or trifluoromethyl,exhibit herbicidal and plant growth-regulating properties. Novel intermediates therefor are also shown.

Abstract: 1-Aryl-pyrazoles of the general formula ##STR1## in which Hal represents halogen,R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 independently of one another represent cyano, nitro, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, halogenoalkyl, halogenoalkoxy or a radical --S(O).sub.n --R.sup.6 andR.sup.2, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 independently of one another and independently of R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 represent the same radicals as R.sup.1 and R.sup.3, and additionally represent hydrogen,and whereinR.sup.6 represents alkyl, halogenoalkyl, amino, alkylamino or dialkylamino and n-represents the number 0, 1 or 2 are disclosed.These compounds can be nitrated to form herbicially effective 1-aryl-4-nitropyrazoles.

Abstract: Herbicidally active 1-aryl-4-cyano-5-halogenopyrazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen or alkyl,Hal is halogen, andAr is substituted phenyl or represents polysubstituted pyridyl.Intermediates of the formulas ##STR2## are also disclosed.

Abstract: Herbicidally and insecticidally active 4-nitro-1-phenylpyrazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each independently is hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthioalkyl or halogenoalkyl,R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 each independently is hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphinyl, alkylsulphonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, or --(X).sub.n --R.sup.8,X is oxygen, sulphur, sulphinyl or sulphonyl,n is 0 or 1, andR.sup.8 is halogenoalkyl.

Abstract: Herbicidally active 5-amino-1-phenylpyrazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R is CN, or an ester or amido group,R.sup.1 is an organic radical,R.sup.2 is an organic radical, hydrogen or an acyl or thioacyl radical,R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 can be hydrogen or various organic radicals but at least one is a haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, haloalkylthio, haloalkylsulphinyl or haloalkylsulphonyl radical, but R is not CN at the same time as R.sup.5 is CF.sub.3. The compounds ##STR2## are intermediates therefor and are also herbicidal.

Abstract: 1-Aryl-5-alkoximinoalkylamino-pyrazoles of the formula ##STR1## in which R represents cyano or nitro, or represents an optionally substituted heterocyclic radical,R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or alkyl,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or alkyl, or represents optionally substituted aryl,R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, alkyl or alkenyl, or represents in each case optionally substituted aralkyl or aryl andAr represents optionally substituted phenyl or pyridyl,are active as herbicides and plant growth regulants. Compounds of the formula ##STR2## in which R" has the same definition as R other than cyano, are also active and useful as intermediates as well.
