Abstract: A process for the preparation of a 1-aryloxy-methyl ketone of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 each independently is hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or optionally substituted aryl, orR.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together are an alkylene chain,R.sup.4 each independently is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, optionally substituted aryl or nitro, andn is 0, 1, 2 or 3,comprising hydrolyzing a 1-halogeno-2-aryloxy-1-alkene of the formula ##STR2## in which Hal is chlorine or bromine, under acidic conditions at a temperature from about 20.degree. to 150.degree. C. until it is about 95 to 100% complete, adding a base, and then bringing the reaction to completion under weakly alkaline conditions at about 20.degree. to 150.degree. C. Advantageously all stages of the reaction are effected in a single vessel at a temperature from about 40.degree. to 100.degree. C.

Abstract: 1-Phenoxy-1-triazolyl-3-fluoromethyl-butane derivatives of the formula ##STR1## in which Az is 1,2,4-triazol-1-yl or 1,2,4-triazol-4-yl,B is --CO-- or --CH(OH)--,X is hydrogen or fluorine,Z each independently is halogen, alkyl, nitro, cyano, alkoxy-carbonyl or optionally substituted phenyl, andn is 0, 1, 2 or 3,or an acid or metal salt adduct thereof which possess fungicidal properties.

Abstract: Herbicidal substituted N-pyrazolylmethyl-haloacetanilide compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein Hal is halogen;R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or optionally substituted phenyl;R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are individually selected from hydrogen, alkyl, halogen or alkoxy; andX.sup.1, X.sup.2 and X.sup.3 are individually selected from hydrogen or alkyl, and acid addition salts and metal salt complexes of such compounds.

Abstract: Triazolylphenacyl pyridyl ether derivatives of the formula ##STR1## in which R is optionally substituted phenyl,X is --CO-- or CH(OH)--,Y each independently is halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or cyano, andn is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4,or a physiologically acceptable addition product thereof with an acid or metal salt which exhibit fungicidal activity.

Abstract: N-pyrimidinylmethyl-haloacetanilides of the general formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or alkyl,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or alkyl,R.sup.3 represents hydrogen or alkyl,R.sup.4 represents hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, alkoxy or hydroxyl,R.sup.5 represents hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, alkoxy or hydroxyl,R.sup.6 represents hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, alkoxy or hydroxyl andZ represents halogen,and their use as herbicides.

Abstract: Substituted 2-carbamoyloximino-butanes of the formula ##STR1## in which R is alkyl or alkylthioalkyl,R.sup.1 is alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl,R.sup.2 is hydrogen, alkyl or --SR.sup.3,R.sup.3 is alkyl, halogenoalkyl, optionally substituted phenyl, alkoxycarbonyl, --N(CH.sub.3)R.sup.4, or a radical identical to that to which --SR.sup.3 is bonded,R.sup.4 is alkyl, alkoxycarbonyl or optionally substituted phenylsulphonyl,X is hydrogen or halogen,Y is hydrogen or halogen,Z is halogen, andn is 0, 1 or 2,which possess arthropodicidal activity.

Abstract: Novel N-(2,5-diazolyl)-alkyl-halogenoacetanilides of the general formmula ##STR1## in which A represents oxygen, sulphur or the grouping >NR,whereinR represents alkyl,R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy,R.sup.2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen,R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen,R.sup.4 represents hydrogen or alkyl,R.sup.5 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, dialkylamino, halogen, cyano or alkoxycarbonyl andZ represents halogen, and acid addition salts and metal salt complexes thereof are outstandingly effective as herbicides.Furthermore novel N-(2,5-diazolyl)-alkyl-anilines of the general formula ##STR2## in which R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and A have the above-mentioned meaning.

Abstract: Novel N-azolylalkyl-aniline compound of the formula ##STR1## in which A is oxygen, sulfur or the radical >NR.sup.2,R is hydrogen or alkyl,R.sup.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, halogen, optionally substituted aryl, optionally substituted aralkyl or the radicals --OR.sup.3, --SR.sup.3 or --NH.sup.2 R.sup.3,R.sup.2 is hydrogen, alkyl or optionally substituted aryl,R.sup.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl or optionally substituted aralkyl,X is alkyl,Y is alkyl or halogen andn is 0, 1 or 2.

Abstract: A fluorine derivative of 3,3-dimethyl-butan-2-one, of the formula ##STR1## in which X is hydrogen or fluorine,is produced by reacting a metal fluoride in a diluent and at elevated temperature with a sulphonic acid ester of the formula ##STR2## in which R is optionally substituted alkyl or optionally substituted aryl, andY is hydrogen or O--SO.sub.2 --R.The product is useful in the synthesis of fungicides.

Abstract: In the reaction of 1-chloro-3,3-dimethylbutan-2-one with a phenol to form an ether-ketone, halogenating it to form a halogenoether-ketone and reacting it with imidazole or 1,2,4-triazole to form a 1-azolyl-3,3-dimethyl-1-phenoxybutan-2-one of the formula ##STR1## in which X is N or CH,n is an integer from 0 to 4, andY each independently is halogen, phenyl, phenoxy, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy or cycloalkyl,the improvement which comprises effecting all steps successively in an aromatic hydrocarbon or chlorinated aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon as solvent without intermediate isolation. The products are obtained in high yield.
